I feel this might be a big season for Rooney. He'll be given the striker role he's been craving for from ages. If he performs then it's great for us, but if he fails to impress then I can see LVG moving him on. LVG has had falling out with players before and specially if they fail to work according to him. With Rooney being the lone front man and still coming all the way back to defence to take the ball might not go down well with LVG.

I think we have the midfiled to now do that job rooney does, now he can just focus on playing up top

If Rooney doesn't produce the goods this season then it'll prove hopefully we need a better centre forward. No offence to Wayne he works his socks off but we need minimum 20 league goals from him this season.
