So there's this player. He's put in the world class bracket by many and thought to be just a good player by others. He is always selected by some of the best managers in the world. He produces flashes of brilliance and yet goes missing for entire games at times. He has a horrible first touch and gives the ball away far too many times. Its almost like he needs better players around him to be able to shine.
I'm not talking about ADM. i am talking about a player who once challenged our ambition and perhaps its time we realize that we may have outgrown his.

Mr Rooney r we talking

Rooney? I disagree, I think he has looked really sharp this pre season and with the signings made it looks like it has increased his spirits. He's a world class player, and I expect him to prove that once again this year. Without Rooney we would look lost.

Oh yay we are doing this again. I actually appreciate when we have the Rooney debate as it gives me time to stay away for a couple of hours and actually do some work.

Perhaps it's time we give him a "full" season and not a pre-season, before we write him off? Perhaps it's time we back him as fans because like it or not, he is our player. I like how everyone else get's a get out of jail card because it's a pre-season and Wazza gets pilloried. I would like the look on a lot of our faces when he surpasses SBC. Not taking a pot-shot at you IMBS, just getting a little tired of the same old rhetoric. He finally gets to play as our lone centre forward for 1 full season, throw him to the wolves if he fails to deliver. It's a vicious circle, questioning a player's ambition yet calling for his head at every little blip. Loyalties and all that.

Deeps.

His record for England counters the argument somewhat but certainly for United he's been better when surrounded by better players. but then who wouldn't be better with the likes of Giggs and Scholes creating them chances against defences more worried about Ronaldo?

For the record, I'd put him somewhere between good and "World Class"

How many times you heard commentators stating they are feeling sorry for Rooney in today's game, and gave stick to LVG tactic which left him isolated for most of the game.
Stop slating all the time. Tactic can be wrong sometime

Given his salary and the length of his contract, he may be unsaleable. So what are we to do? Stick a £300k a week player on the bench?

The club has no choice but to give him 1 year up top and it's something his record deserves. My guess is the privilege will not extend into a second year.

The success of this decision will be measured not just in how many goals he himself scores, but in how many the team scores in total.

Rooney -first name on the teamsheet the only world class player England has and is Man Utd Captain now leave it alone

I'm just glad social media didn't exist when Charlton, Best, Law and co played, their reputations wouldn't have been so romanticised and this great club would be far far less popular and successful.

Sometimes I wonder whether we have supporters or critics.

30 Jul 2015 22:18:56
So we're not allowed to criticize any of our players?
