Right, this may not be allowed. But as the squad is now on tour and transfer news has gone a little quiet, I was wondering if we could go of the United topic for a moment and find out a little bit more about each other.

So the question I would like to ask to each poster is one thing about you all. An achievement? A sport you participate in? Anything like that. Just one thing that identifies you.

My secret thing that I do that you may not know about me is I compete in Taekwondo and have recently just won my second English championship!

It would be much appreciated if this is posted eds! Get commenting 😀

Wow well done Trev.
With the risk of it sounding like a dating profile I'm a visual merchandiser, I'm studying to become a life coach, used to play a lot of footy youth teams, Sunday league etc. was a midfielder in the end but stated at centre back then a striker/winger, them good old days are behind me tho, too much socialising went on into youth ha.

15 Jul 2015 14:33:01
My personal thing is I don't like to stroke egos.

Also people say I'm quite patronising (that means I treat them as if they were stupid).

😬

this is my 1st post in a long time so thought this would be a good thread to come back on, i'm now a devoted family man with 2 boys who are little devils in the making,i play snooker in a local league and 5-a-side every now and again but it was when I was younger I had 2 seasons in Walsall's youth team as a goalkeeper, it was a great experience but even at that level stepping up from sunday league was a whole different ball game and I couldn't find the motivation at the time to progress, the only player I remember playing against who made it as a pro was Jermaine pennant who played for notts county at that time.

15 Jul 2015 14:44:51
At the age of 14 I was in the process of becoming sponsored to move from amateur to professional snooker, then hormones moved up the priority list and the rest is history haha also I'm very proud I've played guitar in my band at a local festival on the back of a truck :D

15 Jul 2015 14:46:27
i used to dress as a bat and fight crime at night, but then i had to move away from Gotham as there was a joker causing me far to much grief. now i just live a normal millionaires life buying fast cars and loose woman

15 Jul 2015 14:53:51
I'm an avid golfer and love a good old mystery (which supasub and HB can back up)

My profession is that I tell people to do stuff and much like my kids they tend not too.

I do have football In my blood line as a few of my family members have played a bit, I did attend the Bobby Charlton school of excellence but unfortunately I also got my injury there (or I would of made it lol)

Nothing flashy about me just a regular bloke I guess.

Now I'm depressed. :)

{Ed001's Note - then you know how we feel after reading your posts.....}

15 Jul 2015 15:02:22
Not much to tell really, now a family man with a wife and daughter (best thing I ever did), played football since I was able to walk, watched by City, United, Bolton and Oldham scouts on numerous occasions as a youngster, but was always too lazy to make it :-)
Played for Manchester Boys at school. Working whilst doing an OU degree at the minute, as I just wanted to piss about when I should have been doing it when I was younger.

Some interesting and surprising replies coming in thus far! All very unexpected, this is great! Keep them coming.

Trev

Well done that is something to be proud of

I don't have anything that good but when I was young I represented my county at junior level cricket, was part of my club team that won the Under21 county cup and later played against several notable international players such as Andy Flower and John Crawley plus some Sheffield Shield Aussies.

One story on football worth sharing was when young playing against a couple of Scousers on a Welsh beach whilst on holiday. I gave one a tough time but he had a nice left foot, his dad said he was on Liverpool's books, his name was Mike Newell. The best footballer I ever played against was Geoff Foulkes, son of Billy, astonishing talent when young and sadly didn't make it but believe me he was very talented.

15 Jul 2015 15:15:45
Currently doing a degree, got one year left then the big wide world :)

Very glad to have made it through the 60s and 70s intact and am now a virtually retired grandfather of a 6 year old, a girly girl, who came home from school one day and said to my son, okay Dad, I suppose I'll play soccer (she lives in Connecticut so she doesn't know what football is).

Other than that I am the most successful mediocrity I know. Luck is the most important factor in life, and I've been very lucky.

Pursuing a post-career career in songwriting and am excited that I'm going to be back in the UK next week. Will be in Manchester for a family wedding and then Bury for a recording session with one of my old buddies, and then taking in the Spurs game, if my other pal comes up with the tkts.

The one deep disappointment in my life is that while I was away on a trip a few years ago my wife decided she liked Arsenal, and became a supporter, relegating us to second fiddle. Does that outweigh all the rest? Almost, but not quite. Only because when it comes to head to heads she prefers us to win, ranking her marriage more than her team. Typical woman!!!

I used to play American Football, got an offer to go and play for the Colorado State Rams - didn't go in the end. Currently involved with American Football coaching in the - formally a youth coach at the Barcelona Dragons.

I'm launching a new American Football equipment store in a few weeks and I've also given 'English' football talks to some local sides (mainly tactical). I never played much football past the Sunday leagues in Spain and over here in the UK.

For some of you that don't know I am Spanish.

I'm also hoping to get into some form of Sunday league football management/coaching and/or scouting.

As with CTR I have football in the blood, my dad was being watched by Bob Bishop (he was the United scout who found Georgie) on numerous occasions. When he began to move up the footballing ladder, at 18 his career meant he had to play for a specific team in those days - those from NI will most likely know what I mean, so it wasn't to be, however I probably wouldn't be here if it had happened, so can't really complain I suppose haha!

Followed in the father's footsteps in becoming a striker, played at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal's ground as i'm sure is obvious, representing my country. Young for my age, and when I moved up to the older team I hadn't even started to fill out, whilst the majority of CBs/MFs I played had done so, and so I filtered out. Should have moved to another team my age, but chose to challenge myself, and here I am at Uni in Liverpool no longer playing football. Thinking about starting again though.

Some interesting reads!

My brother used to play for pro team but as he got older his mind started to drift to women and drink with these girls being more interested in him being a pro footballer? As a result, he was released and gutted, nearly to a depressive state! We told him but as a youngster you think you know everything? Don't get me wrong, he's happy now, but oh how things could have been soooo different!

15 Jul 2015 16:00:38
Doctor.
Used to play quite a lot of football before 3 separate ligament injuries killed me.

{Ed007's Note - You must be bloody good doctor if you're dead and still posting!}

15 Jul 2015 16:02:54
I said depressed ed not blessed :)

15 Jul 2015 16:28:06
Just finished my last year of uni, used to play cricket for my county for a couple of years when I was younger. Wasn't as good at football but played against fergies grandson a few times! The man himself was at one of our games once and I had the pleasure of shaking his hand! Didn't sign me up though unfortunately.

15 Jul 2015 17:02:34
Currently work as a groundworker but I'm only young so have plenty of time for that to change. I played as a right back because I was pretty quick and strong, ruined my muscles and ligaments in my leg so I sometimes have a struggle running so that was football over. Took up boxing and was pretty good at it, regret not going further with it as one lad I used to train with is midlands champion at his weight and another has turned professional. Bit gutting to see them go and think I could have been there. United related things are that when I was a kid my dad took me to a game against Wigan on Boxing Day, we were sat right next to the tunnel and van der sar threw his gloves into the crowd. It skimmed my dad's fingers but he's not the tallest so he couldn't quite get it. It fell right into someone's lap who was sat on his phone paying no attention. Also my uncle has just bought a box at old Trafford so I'll hopefully have a couple of trips in there!
Great to find out more about people and to share info about myself!

15 Jul 2015 17:08:19
Used to play for villa and then Rotherham up until the age of 16, now just playing semi pro but know quite a few lads who've made it big time who are playing in the prem.

Finished my education a few weeks back and I've just had an interview today for a management role at a promotions company, the interviewer was a Leeds fan so I hope that didn't go against me.

15 Jul 2015 17:14:12
I am very keen tiddlywinker, but when i'm not owning the counters I try to kick a ball straight. It funny how everyone plays or used to play football on a football forum ;).

Just finished my degree in business management and I am the lead singer of the band 'LOWrise' hence the username. Check us out lowrisemusic.com, self promotion :)

i love when someone asks these questions, I like hearing the different backgrounds of Manchester Utd fans and where their from in the World. Granted you're not a real fan if you're not from Manchester, right 'I am Kloot' ;)

15 Jul 2015 17:23:10
Retired English teacher.

Once smacked a spider who was terrorising a student with my register - then made the class do a minute's silence to remember family left behind.

15 Jul 2015 17:30:56
I'm an M&E estimator, play American football for Manchester Titans and compete in Olympic freestyle wrestling.
My biggest achievement is representing Great Britain wrestling in the European champions when I was 17. Well that's my proudest moment, my biggest regret was that I used to in a relationship with Michelle Keegan when I was younger, but left her because "I couldn't be bothered" anymore

15 Jul 2015 17:31:42
I've only recently signed up to the site so this is a nice way to introduce myself. I'm from Cardiff. Started supporting United because I was obsessed with George Best as a kid. Played local league football in South Wales and later in Sussex from the age of 11 until I was 37. Nothing major but it was always the most fun I've ever had.
Work-wise I'm a freelance lighting and sound designer for a number of UK and German theatre and dance companies and I spend roughly two thirds of the year touring the globe with different shows.
p.s. I don't like cheese.

15 Jul 2015 18:21:59
Suppose I better add I have a wife and two kids, always evades me that

15 Jul 2015 18:26:06
Currently make living selling Car number plates. I played for Luton youth and my cousin played for Hearts, Rangers (ouch, family are all Celtic fans) and Southampton plus Scotland national team. Like everyone else, career cut short by injury by a certain Curtis Davies cleaning me out in a training session!
2 kids and they are united and batman obsessed like their old man!

15 Jul 2015 18:46:56
Well, as every other norwegian born child, I've been raised up with wintersports and football. Sikjumping was my sport besides football til the age of 14.
Ive been playing the drums for 15 years, and played in all sorts of bands!

Nowadays i work out of my house with PC/Mobile/network customerservice, i play a lot of golf and I've just divorced my wife after 6 years of marriage and moved into my old man`s house for a wee while.

Started following United with Cantona, but got even more a fan when Solskjær, Berg, Johnsen and Nevland was at the club.

15 Jul 2015 19:01:34
I'm currently working as a construction manager. Got 2 girls. Was a bit of a journeyman in my youth due to my dads work, even did a stint in Germany.
Seeing as you're all mentioning your footy careers, I played for the mighty Stevenage Colts with none other than our very own Ashley Young. Well actually he was the age group below me and his brother Martin the year older. I never made it past the u16 and then went into Sunday league. Still play some 5 a side now.

15 Jul 2015 19:01:51

Also, I do like to research a good conspiracy in my spare time.

15 Jul 2015 17:05:41
Ah ed007, ed001 and i were just talking about you. You're quite. er. something.

{Ed001's Note - it's ok I already told him how I stuck up for him when you were all calling him a smart arse. He may be an arse but I won't have anyone calling him smart, so just bear that in mind in future!}
