I was never buying this argument that players only join clubs for the money, ie JMB etc.
Reports this morning suggesting we have offered turan more money than anyone yet he doesn't want to join and is holding out for Chelsea join Chelsea.if this is true. How do you explain that with your money chasing theory?

After his comments, "I am tired of running" i would be happy if he joins chelsea.

Money is always a factor for the vast majority of ayers, it's their job after all and they retire at a young age, but you've got to take in to account that some countries have much heavier tax laws, so you could be offered a higher wage before tax but end up earning less. But the main factors a player has to think about are money, what is hest for his family, and if they could adapt to the change in lifestyle. The fact that we are in manchester will always be against us, I mean who would want to live in manchester over Madrid or Paris?

Pep, surely you must think some players join clubs mainly for the money? Otherwise you wouldn't see as many good players going to clubs where they should never be. Look at players like Hulk, Witsel and Garay. Surely sides in Russia were not the only ones looking at these players? They probably weren't the only ones able to pay the asking price but they ended up in Russia. Others joining teams in China and Qatar etc.
One of the more recent examples is Sebastian Giovinco. I think he is 28/29 years old and he was getting a good bit of playing time at Juve. This shows he's a good player but he went to the MLS in the prime of his career. Surely other sides in Italy and Europe approached or watched him?
Plenty of footballers nowadays are millionaires from early in their careers and at the end of the day as much as we might not like it, this is their job. It is how they earn their living and as much as people might say what can't you do if you are earning say £100,000 a week, why do you need more? I can't say I wouldn't think about following the money if I was in their position and someone offered me £150,000 a week instead.

That's why I said if it's true danny. I completely agree that most players are only interested in money but I also think some players want to play for certain clubs and we used to be one of them, it wasn't about the money it was about the club! It used to be us, barca and Madrid. But now I feel Chelsea are more attractive to players than us and I don't like that that's all.

Pep, we used to be the one of those clubs because we were consistently competing for the biggest trophies. Now we are in a state of transition and players need to be convinced that we will be competing at the top again. Players join clubs for three primary reasons: location, winning trophies, and, most importatly, money.
If you honestly think that players aren't primarily motivated by money, then you're being very naive.

I don't think u should trust the news which says according to "reports" . How do u even know that the news is true . I don't think we are interested in Turan and have offered him massive money

Well we all want the same thing, new players who will make a difference to last year. We are linked with many top players and we follow 'the news' because nothing else we can go off! That's why we are on this site because we are all desperate for clues of the eds, but like someone said further up, we are all clueless as to who will join us!!! My guess now is we will get ramos, shniederlin and past that I've no idea if we'l get anyone!
