So falcao has signed a loan deal with Chelsea for a reported £130k a week, less than half what we were paying for him. It seems that we keep getting shafted in the market. I would love to have Gill back in the job.
On a another note, how do posters think Falcao will do at Chelsea? I think he'll be a hit as JM will play the right way to suit his game and I think he'll score 15 goals for them.

Agree3 Disagree1

He will be the main Striker and with them players around him he should score for fun.

04 Jul 2015 07:58:46
i don't think so nomid he will be better there but he lost it . he even got dropped in copa america . more even i think we need a cb and cm more then striker

04 Jul 2015 08:40:52
Yea,they will be paying him far less than we did in wages but we paid less than Chelsea in securing his a services for the same duration to Monaco.
Also,we should remember he was more a hot property then than now. Most teams won't like to touch him now.
Let's see how he performs at Chelsea first. I wish him all the best. It's a shame he couldn't cut it here.

04 Jul 2015 08:41:48
It is not a fair comparison Nomidfield, the reason for the drop is because of the, season he had with us in the PL. When we paid the expectation was greater and I dare say the amount of teams interested greater too.
I actually think he will be better.just don't think we could take that chance where as Chelsea can afford. To with there team.

04 Jul 2015 08:48:12
If Costa stays fit how much playing time do we expect Falcao to get, out of interest?

04 Jul 2015 08:58:17
HB,

None

04 Jul 2015 09:54:06
He is a backup at Chelsea nothing more nothing less a fit unsuspended Costa starts every time. I hope he does well.

04 Jul 2015 09:58:29
No Chelsea only paid Monaco 4million, we paid 6!!!! Shafted

04 Jul 2015 10:14:09
You paid more because he didn't have an atrocious season before he joined you. He was awful last season so it's logical that Chelsea don't pay him as much as you did. Doesn't matter either way, you guys have money to spare.

04 Jul 2015 10:14:53
The option to buy will be much lower as well, it does make sense as last season was so bad. But I agree in general why are we paying at least a third more than anybody else will or would in both wages and transfer fees?

Probably because we are desperate and our main man has a big mouth with somebody else's money to back it up! I'm sick of seeing Woody's Woody, keep your pants up because we are sure paying for his mistakes now!

04 Jul 2015 10:22:36
We paid £6million? I think you'll find all up that loan move cost us around the £16-20million mark. Savvy business.

He will be great at Chelsea because when he gets the opportunities Jose will play to his strengths and not just throw him into the unknown the way our great leader did. As for Costa, he is a top player but he will not stay fit for the entire season so Falcao will get his fair share of games.

04 Jul 2015 10:36:30
But in another report,it was stated that Chelsea paid 8million Pounds while we paid 6 million Pound.

04 Jul 2015 10:45:22
Mourinho seems like the type to prefer a Costa up front over a Falcao. If Costa stays fit I see Falcao as the option on the bench and starting only occasionally when Costa needs a rest.

04 Jul 2015 10:56:02
Whatever people think about Wellbeck, who personally I always thought was a great squad option, we effectively sold him for nothing given £16m we got for him was in essence cost of a poor Falcao for a season :(

04 Jul 2015 11:41:45
Ah yes falcao couldn't control the ball because of LVG's tactics, should have realised.

04 Jul 2015 13:30:49
It doesn't matter how good the players are around you or if the managers tactics don't suit, I you can not control the ball with your first touch or even shield the ball, you are not going to do much.

I wish Falcao all the best, and I hope for his own sake he gets back to what he was but not matter who he is playing for, he will not being doing much with the first touch that we saw last year

04 Jul 2015 14:12:10
Angel - Are you talking about Rooney or Falcao with your first sentence?

No striker in world football would have looked good for us last season, aimless balls, balls played after the run so the striker has to check back, nominal chances created. Falcao didn't cover himself in glory but neither did RVP or Rooney - thankless task.

Haleseni - Welbeck would have been our most effective striker last season, in this system you need a willing runner with pace. He didn't pull up trees at Arsenal and we need better than Welbeck but I said at the time we were letting the wrong striker go. Thanks for bringing him up mate, Danny (our one) will be pleased it's allowed me to talk about the one that got away again.

04 Jul 2015 15:42:19
Lol both I guess beast! I won't get in to the Rooney debate though as I might upset sone people

I just think Falcao has looked poor for some time, I don't know if you watched the Copa America but he was awful there too. Maybe it's just a confidence thing, I hope he gets it back but this feels more like the torres situation where he never seemed to reach the same heights,in fact just looked like a different player altogether. You can blame that on tactics or whatever but doesn't take away from the fact that he couldn't even control a ball, basics really

04 Jul 2015 17:17:06
Agreed JMB.
HB and GDS, I know you seem to share the same views all the time!! But in any case, in answer to your question HB, of course Costa is a fantastic player and will be first choice striker, but how often has Costa stayed fit in the past few seasons at Chelsea and athletico? I'll leave you to look that one up but I can tell you that he had long periods of injuries throughout his career.
The way Costa plays leads him to get injuries as his game is based on running and physicality. So falcao is a fantastic option for them.
Re angelred comment that he can't control a ball, utterly ridiculous I'm afraid. In addition, falcao has always preferred the ball to be played with him facing goal. At United, we played the ball to him with his back to goal and that took all the threat away from his game.
It will be interesting to see how he gets on at Chelsea. HB, GDS, AR, do you think he'll flop? How many goals do you think he'll score??

04 Jul 2015 20:56:37
Utterly ridiculous no midfield? I've watched him for both UTD and Colombia and his first touch was absolutely atrociuos, maybe it's a confidence thing but it was terrible, I don't know what Falcao you were watching?

I do agree that we played the ball to him too often when his back was to goal but unfortunately at times strikers have to do that. He just wasn't very good at it because like I said his first touch was terrible
