Do we think Coleman was always LVGs number one RB target ? I'd like to think so as he's best RB in the league. I know we flirted with Alves but I think a lot of big names we are linked to is just agents fishing: throw in United are interested and miraculously you get a new improved deal.

United will always be used in that way unfortunately, best to not get too excited about every big name we are linked with.

He is not better than Zabaleta or Ivanovic at this current time but I agree he is the best right back we have any chance of signing.

A club like United prob has 2/3 targets for one position, prob Coleman, clyne and A other for right back. Coleman being 1st choice, Liverpool came in for clyne knowing we had interest but we wasn't going to sign clyne at the expense of perhaps getting Coleman and also knowing if Coleman didn't happen there is still option C which is prob on a level with clyne anyway.

He is not as good as Zabaleta and is different to Ivanovic. But he is certainly top 3 and is the best right back we could look to get.

GDS I think Coleman could be just as good as Ivanovic and Zabaleta.
They have had the comfort of playing for better teams with better players around them. Coleman has stood out the past 2 seasons at Everton and has regularly performed at a very high level against all comers in the premier league. I certainly rather him to Clyne and even more so than Zabaleta or Ivanovic. He offers more than both going forward.
This is just my opinion though

Why does everyone assume we will get Coleman, I think we have dithered again as we do every transfer window and it cost us Clyne for £15 million and will probably cost us Schneidelin using him as a back up option to Bastian. I know I wouldn't be happy playing second fiddle if arsenal come in again for Schneiderlin think he may go to them.

I have a feeling we won't sign any right back and again valencia will continue to be our right back next season. Lvg said he was the best player in the Arsenal FA match, he sees things differnetly. I hope I am wrong.

I think Zabaletta is the best atm, Ivanovic is tripe and is on the wane anyway, Coleman would be a good buy if united can keep him fit and playing. If rafael could stay fit, I would still stick with him but it seems LVG doesn't fancy him.

We normally turn young prospects into world class players, where as going by Brendan's last few signings, he is doing the opposite.
Anyway, I really believe Coleman is on another level, and it's hard to find a good young right back right now who is top notch. Jury is out on Clyne for me, even Hodgson preferred to play Jones at RB. LOL
