Quite an open ended question.

We are linked with at least 5 players from Real Madrid: Ronaldo, Bale, Ramos, Benzema and Varane. We could easily be linked with Modric and Coentrao too as well as Carvajal.

Will we actually sign anyone from Real Madrid this summer? I don't think we will get any of them but they will get De Gea for sure.

I don't see why they should get De Gea for sure. If 13milis what they are offering, I'd rather keep him for a year and let him go for free. He could be the difference between winning the title and not.

Dortmund made Lewandowski stay. Why can't we do that with De Gea?

23 Jun 2015 14:20:14
De Gea won't be sold without any movement from Madrid, IMO. We don't need the money for the lad. We can afford to keep him another year and let him move on for free next season, where other clubs might become interested.

23 Jun 2015 15:00:33
Lets all stop being silly now.

De Gea WILL leave for a minimal amount of money, we're not the type of club to keep players against their will, he wants out, it's as simple as that.

Madrid always get their man and will get their man, they hold all the cards here, they know if they don't get him this year they will have him next year for nothing and that might even suit them better. A year for a club is nothing.

We won't get a player in exchange because not only are Real Madrid on a different level to us at the moment but they also don't NEED to offer anyone in exchange.

Madrid will get De Gea for under £20 Million and that'll be that.

23 Jun 2015 15:22:39
@Jose Moonrinho

The clubs negotiating tactics regarding De Gea so far don't reflect the kind of defeatist attitude that you seem to have. Provided one of the said Madrid players wants the move, we will get one of them I think.

We have no need to sell De Gea right now and certainly aren't a club in need of cash from the sale. If he is to leave it will have to be a significant cash offer or a player coming in the other direction. The club will look at the low balled offers and think "we'd rather keep him than let him leave for a pittance". He may well need to make a transfer request and make it ugly and I'm not sure he is prepared to do that.

23 Jun 2015 15:47:48
We will hold out for a while, I think £20 million given his contract situation will be seen as okay by the club. That money will be reinvested in a keeper who actually wants to be here like Lloris.

We won't keep a number 1 keeper that has his mind elsewhere.

23 Jun 2015 15:48:03
The truth is that Madrid need a new keeper more than we need to sell. If Madrid think they can sign our reigning player of the season for less than £20m, regardless of what is left on his contract, they're being silly. If De Gea stays, he will act like a professional because he doesn't want to spend a year on the bench. If his performances are anything like the last few seasons, he could be difference between us winning a trophy, or getting through to the latter stages of the ECL. This is worth more than the money Madrid have purportedly been touting.

Madrid can put pressure on De Gea to hand in transfer requests, but the fact of the matter is that he has a contract with us for another year. If he is that important to Madrid, they will stump up a fair fee, like with did with RVP. If not then we are under no obligation to sell a player for a lower value because they want to move. In the same way that De Gea doesn't owe us a new contract, we don't owe him a cheap move home.

And I don't for a second think we will get any Madrid player in a swap.

23 Jun 2015 15:49:17
No matter how much money we have heads will roll if opportunities to make money are not taken. The reason we have money is there are people that do their best to make it for the club, ergo why would we let a commodity worth £15m+ see out his contract when we could get that money? It doesn't make sense commercially.

We have a less happy player in a key position, we lose £15m and we can replace him now with several keepers who could do just as good or near to as good a job, who will be committed. We are about to re-build our defence, it makes sense to have the lynch pin secured long term.

Obviously if this was a game then it wouldn't matter, but in real life £15m is a lot of money to shareholders and some accountant who doesn't know anything about football is responsible for signing off on these things, or reporting incompetence!

If he wants to go, ship him out now so we can focus on building the team from the back and not having constant upheaval, unsettling everything.

23 Jun 2015 15:50:56
Jose, since Fergie's era ended, a lot has changed at the club, can you really be sure of the type of club we are presently?

23 Jun 2015 16:58:13
If it is true that we signed DdG for £17.8 million thereabouts then he should go for at least 10 mil more!

23 Jun 2015 17:43:16
We have a new manager and a new chief executive and since Woodword took over he hasn't shown anything to back up that he will sell De Gea for a pittance all for the sake of making 13 million quid. LvG might think he's worth more than the 13 million on the table and other areas are priority. I think De Gea would be a consummate professional and give his all if we decided to keep him for another year.

23 Jun 2015 18:03:19
I think most of you are seeing things from a slightly tinted point of view.

I don't have a defeatist attitude REDFAITH, I just don't care whether he leaves or not, he's a very talented goalkeeper but he isn't the only decent keeper around.

United hold nothing here, do you look at Sterling and go Liverpool hold everything? No of course you don't because the player wants to leave.

De Gea wants out, it's clear as day and he will force that move through one way or another, the club won't risk upsetting the dressing room when we've got a very good goalkeeper in Valdes still at the club who can take over.

MBD, I do actually think we've become worse so to speak, every transfer since Ferguson left has been in some regards embarrassing in terms of fee. Fellaini £28M, Mata £38M, Shaw £30M, Di Maria £60M, etc. not to mention the wages.

It shows an attitude that we're willing to do whatever it takes to get our man granted, but if the player wants to leave then what is the point in keeping him?

Whether it's £10M, £0, or £40M the money makes no difference to what the club will and won't spend.

Get rid of him and put more effort into player who want to come to the club and who we're trying to sign.

23 Jun 2015 18:18:19
Lads we signed RVP for 20mil plus, Arsenal knew we wanted him and got the best money that could be got. We should be holding out for at least 20 Mil for DDG. If we don't get that or get a player in return we should just keep him and let him go next year. Real run that risk of maybe losing him to someone else.

23 Jun 2015 19:42:39
Guys, why do you think united signed Valdez earlier on, when they shouldn't have? because they know the de gea situation will linger on this way. They expected it and the club is ready for it. Like it or not, Valdez will be united number one keeper next season and de gea won't go for cheap too. United will hold on for the maximum fee from de gea and this is no joke because the truly prepared for it. Wheather the make loss in keeping de gea or gain in selling him now is up to de gea and Real Madrid. Make no mistake united won't sell de gea for anything less than 20 pounds.

23 Jun 2015 19:50:29
Although I think DDG will be used in exchange for a Madrid player.

My view, as I said before, I hate a player who is contracted holding the club to ransom (yes that's Rooney too). I would love the club to make an example of him, it would be for the greater good in terms of future player anarchy. At the very least this would push his worth up. I don't care for 'modern professionalism'. Taking a club like manchester united for a ride should not be optional for any player, we are not a stepping stone. He should sign the contract, develope more and learn to direct his defence like a truly world class keeper. And then we will get top whack like we should for him. Or if not stay.
Modern professional my arse. It's statements like that help footballers and their agents walk all over us.
The shareholders etc will get their money's worth, as players won't make a mockery of our club to the same extent as recent years have shown. Commercially we are on top of world football, so we should show the world we are no pushovers and are here to stay.

I'd swap him for Lloris in a heatbeat, the ability to organise your defence is worth more to a team than a reflex shot stopper.

Rant over 😥😰😆

23 Jun 2015 20:15:50
We are too money driven to turn down 13 million for a player who wants to leave, can you really see the Glazers saying no to that income when we have a replacement at the club already?

23 Jun 2015 20:34:08
They can stick the £13m where the sun don't shine IMO.

😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈

23 Jun 2015 20:55:21
You guy so gullible to believe the 13 mill figure reported by the bs publication. He will not be going anywhere unless there is a substantial offer.

23 Jun 2015 21:30:30
I'd like to see us go for £10-15 million + De Gea for Ramos. He will leave, if not this year then next so we may as well use him while he is such a desirable asset.

23 Jun 2015 22:39:10
Fresh, Sergio Ramos has the best PR team ever, this is greatest work to get a new contract I've ever seen with dozens of media outlets reporting a deal.

GCU, He'll go for less than we paid for him imo. Perhaps you are gullible for thinking the club will keep an unhappy player?

24 Jun 2015 07:13:26
Who said he was unhappy moonrinho?

24 Jun 2015 08:13:36
Mourinho

The site is full of gullible post at the moment and this happens every window and then people disappear. He will go more than we paid for him, do you want to wager on that:) a lot more as well.

You seem to forget how this works, unhappy as you claim, which he has always said he loves the place and very happy, if a player wants to move the buying club/s have to meet a certain criteria of the selling club. If we went based on your theory there would a be few hundred player going for a peanuts to other clubs because they want a move. In reality its the farthest thing from it.

Based on your theory, Sterling who has said he wants out should go for 10 million then assuming he is worth 30:)

We should be able to get Lioris for 10 million too because he has made a lot more statements indicating he wants out :)

24 Jun 2015 09:05:49
Ddg will go for around £20m. He is worth more to us than that and will be to RM. Reality is he has 1 year on his contract and wants to go there for family reasons.
It may get dressed up so as to not lose face with another player involved but realistically it will be £20m.
Without the injury I think Forster would have been tempting, Lloris works be great and Cillison makes, sense. Just don't expect us to make money out of the saLe and purchase (unless we buy no one and stick with valdes and lindegard)

24 Jun 2015 14:52:36
DDG wil go for more than 20 million. It seems like players are going to move for much higher numbers than being reported. Firmino and Martinez seem to confirm that.

Hoping City put a stupid big offer in for Sterling LOL, that will sort them out for a window or 2.
