I think we all agree that paying the agreed price to keep falcao would b bad business. but if we could negotiate a lower fee what would u guys b prepared to see us pay for him?

10 mill tops.
He has flopped in the PL.

I'd pay £35-£40m if I was any other club. Unfortunately we lack the players to create chances for Falcao and need a striker who can create his own chances with pace and trickery. It's a shame as I think Falcao will come good next season and won't be far off being 'the best out and out striker in the world' again. It won't be with us though.

Would rather sign someone like Ings on a free.

15 May 2015 00:32:14
I agree JMB.
falcao is overhyped, overpriced and overpayed.

{Ed004's Note - Would people agree to another loan. Especially if RVP left? Maybe it's just me clinging to false hope that after a preseason and rest he could return to his former glory days}

I personally don't think he has that x factor anymore.
He was a bit part player this season and IF we did loan him again it would be a huge part of wages going to a player I can't see getting a lot of games. It would be wiser to invest the money into other areas IMO.
Ings on a free makes perfect sense to me.

I think Falcao has been unlucky to come to a team in transition and therefore been deprived of the incisive passing he thrives on. I have watched him a lot this season and it is obvious he struggled as many players do to come to terms with EPL style of football. He also was not properly recovered from his injuries. But his anticipation and awareness are there in abundance and given decent service and a long run in the team so he feels settled I am convinced he will score shed loads. Remember. Form is temporary Class is permanent

Agree with Herbs 004. Waste of resources and the lads talent will be wasted here. He should do what all South Americans do coming into their twilight years and sign a bumper contract in the Serie A.

15 May 2015 06:02:28
I for one agree entirely with Ed 4. He is unfortunate to have come in now facing all the odds- injury, new league, new manager, a disorganised set of prayers and a fan base that is dying to see the team progress by 'hook or by crook'. All this odd piled in one man plus high fees paid and preasure to deliver. For me, if he can be signed on the cheap I will very much be happy as I still see him rising again when the odds are minimal. Ings for me is not convincing to me. One of those Overrated english players

{Ed025's Note - im with you on the ings shout yoko, him and austin are vastly overrated imo and their clubs are looking for big money, so i would swerve them myself..

15 May 2015 06:30:48
Yoko - Falcao is on £265,000 a week. His wage isn't going to drop if we sign him up. He has done next to nothing, no club or business for that matter can afford to be haemorrhaging that type of money.

{Ed025's Note - i agree jmb..

Last weekend he was taking up some good positions in the box and making all the right runs but had absolutely no service, you can't pin all the blame on him although he does look like he's lost half a yard from a couple of years ago. Then again rvp has lost a couple of yards.

15 May 2015 08:45:21
He looks like he is carrying extra timber, and most importantly doesn't look happy at all. Unfortunately I think we should just move on from Falcao.

No striker relying on chances being created for them would do well with the current system. That is why it amazes me that I read a lot of people wanting Hernandez back. We need a Kane type player desperately for the way we play, maybe Lewandowski.

Ings: Successful in the EPL thus far and can be got for free
Falcao: Failure in the EPL thus far and costs an arm and a leg!
Draw your own conclusions!

I wouldn't sign Falcao on a permanent basis but nor would I sign Ings. Ings is a good player but certainly not better than what we have. Personally I'd rather keep RvP for another year than sign either Falcao or Ings.

But in all honesty I think we need a new striker who could be world class, Falcao has been poor, I read somewhere that he has only had something like 3 shots on target in his last 11 appearances, although I don't know how accurate that statement is.
RvP could rediscover a little form after a break over the summer but he would be a short term solution.
Rooney has been okay up front as a lone striker but he drops deep too often and isn't a long term solution either.
Wilson is a top prospect but isn't ready for the first team on a weekly basis yet.

We need a top class striker in his mid twenties to see us challenge on all fronts next season.

I really enjoyed the Harry Kane to Utd rumours I read in the paper this morning. He'd be ideal and I think Benteke would be a good signing as well.

I'd move on Falcao and RVP.

{Ed004's Note - I think he is probably the ideal type of striker to lead the line for LvG. He's tall (replaces the need for Fellaini), dangerous at set pieces, quick and a good finisher. However, for the reported fee (45 million) I don't think he offers enough. Not sure he is technically good enough and if he is a world class finisher or not. Also worried he may be a one season wonder}

Ed025,

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Ings out of contract in the summer, so the club could be looking for big money, but they won't get it? Does that make it a slightly different proposition?

{Ed025's Note - its not just about the transfer GDS, its about his agent wanting big wages for him plus the add ons mate..
