LVG said after the match yesterday that himself and his staff had a bad feeling about the match based on the warm up .
Surely he should have got them together before the game started, told them he wasn't happy with what he saw and that anyone who carried that attitude into the game would find themselves being substituted and left out of the team next week

Agree1 Disagree0

But then wouldn't he be accused of not filling them with confidence before a game?

One of my major issues with the manager is his attitude on match days. I think I contribute more watching the game than he does from the bench!

He never adapts to opponents during games, never instructs/advises and barely moves (unless its too give Giggs a slap). I don't get the point in having a manager that doesn't manage problems as they arise, surely match day is the most important aspect of the week, you can prep all you like but he is paid money to solve problems not add to them.

I wish he would show some willingness to amend the system or strategy as our opponents do, far too stubborn and our opponents have capitalised on this all season.

I remember this sensation from when I used to coach kids. You just get a sense that there's a spark missing, and by that time it's too late, there's absolutely nothing you can do or say to change it. I am sure we've all experienced those sub-par days when nothing seems to come together. They are an unfortunate reality. SAF's teams used to have them too. In particular, I recall a bad tempered affair at Fulham when both Rooney and Scholes managed to get red carded.

LvG Has said he wants his players to have the intelligence on the pitch to adapt.

U mean a manager that wants to trust his players to make the right choices on the pitch? Don't be daft I wanna see him jumping about like a mad man!

I don't care how animated or vocal he is on the bench, they're professional athletes not ten year olds who need minute by the minute instructions. But there a few questions about his motivational skills. He said that he could see the players lacked a bit of spark in the warm up yesterday, but it's the manager's job to address that and get the players revved up. For all his tactical skills, I think he finds it hard to appeal to players' more emotional sides and put fire in their bellies.

Yes, he definitely needs to learn the St Crispins Day speech from Henry V.

I do think he has this expectation about his squad though, and ultimately that's how he's going to develop the team. He needs self-motivated intelligent players who by game time are ready to execute his instructions. Like everyone else though I can't help thinking that a bit of sideline passion would be useful on occasion.
