So is it fair to say that whether LVG is good or bad simply depends on whether Carrick plays?
That tells me all I need to know.
We did well first 30, then failed to show any spirit again, no ability to break down a team yet again.
ADM & Falcao - has there ever been a bigger disappointment? Rooney looked lethargic again today.
Valencia, Shaw were the only two that did well. Maybe Herrera as well. McNair is good on the ball, but he isn't good enough defensively yet.
Next two games are crucial, West Brom and Palace will be difficult - hopefully we rediscover that pace and desire to attack quickly which has gone missing again.

I agree with all you said beast except mcnair needs to improve a lot if he's to stay. I thought he had 1 of a fair few mares he's had this season, today.

Valencia guilty for the 2nd and 3rd goal. What can you expect pkaying s winger at RB. No penetration. Rooney is a good forward but not great, his killer instinct has long left him. Still s great player but if were are to chsllenge next season.a rb cb winger dm and forward are needed. Carrick is 33/34 snd injury prone

Never been one of his biggest fans, but I thought Smalling was the only player that turned up today.

I posted after the Spurs game that LVG had stumbled upon the formation due to a lack of fit LB's, forcing him to move Blind from central midfield, and was shot down at the time. Now it seems I may have been right??!!
It's no coincidence that the Dutch national team have went from WC semi-finalists to also rans by moving Blind to central midfield.

We were very poor today and I think this shows that Blind is not a good enough midfielder. Valencia got caught out again, and despite doing his best this season, he just isn't anywhere near good enough if we want challenge. Can't blame McNair, he's been dropped in because our defenders are never fit. Fellaini was too emotional to be effective, and the front three were just awful. Feel sorry for Herrera because he McCarthy didn't give him an inch all day. Credit to Smalling, who did his best to keep the scoreline respectable, and Shaw has a few promising moments.
Make no mistakes, this was an armature performance, and without Carrick we look like half the side. Special mention to our world class subs bench, who continue to make a strong case for speedy transfers in the summer. At least the board will be under no illusions that the rebuilding job is close to being done. Out with Di Maria, RVP and Falcao. In with Bake and Depay.

Carrick is miles better in that role as his passing is so much more penetrating and he is also much better at protection the back 4.
