You'd be happy with him as our midfield signing this summer then? Genuinely think he's good enough to play at the top level, champions league against the bayern as barca teams? Or did he just have a good game and is a "good" player. We should be aiming higher I'm afraid and I couldn't give two shiney 5hits what his name is

I agree with you Stand. He had a very good game and more often than not he plays well, but is he suited to a team that is possession based? I don't think so, in fact he would be a bit of a liability in an LVG team.
He's always good for a 7/10 but we need more than that if we expect to be winning things again.

Stand - I never said he should be our midfield signing this summer, did I? I was merely pointing out that he's a lot better player than many on here have given him credit for. Personally, I think he'd be a great squad player for us, if maybe not THE midfield lynchpin we're all looking for.

He has a never say die attitude,good engine never stops ,breaks up play good passer,would give us balance in the middle,the boy could do a Roy keane job in there,before ye start I know he isn't Roy keane

Yes he's a good player and probably better than what we have but to get it right I'd rather go from a fiesta to a Ferrari that from a fiesta to a bmw. I could name plenty of players that would do a job. But since the days of Keane and scholes we have struggled in there. Plenty of money has been wasted trying to rectify it. We've also lost Pogba who will become the best in his position in the world IMO. It's time to get that right with world class player. If we can't make the massive signing we need, Morgan schneiderlin would be a much better but than McCarthy
