If Carrick and Blind remain unfit for the game against Everton, do you think either of Jonny Evans or McNair could do the job in midfield? Both are decent passers of the ball and could maybe playing a holding role against Everton. Rooney should not play CM at any day. I would rather play Di Maria there or Valencia who performed on the right side of the diamond very well in a game I fail to remember.

i though rooney played ok against chelsea .
i think he would do a better job than evans or mcnair

jred but Rooney would do a better job than Falcao upfront.

I read that Blind could be available and Carrick, jones and Rojo are out. In that case I would play Blind and push Rooney up front.

{Ed004's Note - Evans is also back however I would keep Smalling and McNair as the back 2. Both played very well vs Chelsea}

If Blind becomes available then it solves the matter.
Rooney is immense at CF position, he gets team to play better football. Everton have a very decent midfield with Barry McCarthy and the player they signed from rangers. Evans could play there, I feel he could do an okay job. Didn't he start at midfield in the U21 game? Correct me if I am wrong.

Evans lacks confidence in his preferred position of CB so why would people think he could do a job in CM?
His UTD days are over IMO.

I admit Smalling and McNair played well against Chelsea.
But McNair could face trouble against Lukaku who has both strength and pace and Drogba lacked pace.

Rooney upsets everything when in midfield for me. We not only lose out on his attacking play he stunts the fluidity and we create hardly any chances whenever he plays there as a result.

I'd give McNair a go, he looked very commanding on the ball last week, deserves to play this week and should do well against Everton.

jred, Blind as CM and Rooney as striker. ED04 I would also start McNair and Shaw as both were good against Chelsea.

You might want to recall how Lukaku completely bullied and dominated Evans in Fergie's last game. No way he should play ahead of McNair.

{Ed004's Note - Is Lukaku available for Everton?}

Confirmed as fit today ed.

{Ed004's Note - thanks noticed he had missed a couple of games recently just}

McNair's the natural midfielder. Give the kid a go.

Evans shouldn't even be warming the bench he's that bad
