I can already feel the stick coming my way for this comment but I will post it anyway. After watching us finally coming to the party and playing some good stuff lately I have been thinking about our striking department. We have been linked with every name under the sun Benzema, Ronaldo, and most recently Cavani etc. Would I like one those players? Of course I would.

However, I would like to point out that with us playing the way we are at the minute I think Danny Welbeck could have finally found his feet in this team. I know some will say he had his chance over and over which I agree with but when you look at the improvement of players like Ashely Young for example, I feel he could have prospered.

He was always good at picking up positions and his versatility was always an asset. He was a homegrown lad and you could see he loved the club. I suppose in hindsight it's easy to say this now but I would have liked to have kept him and like I said I believe with this group of players, playing good football, we could have catapulted his career to the heights that Sturridge has reached for Liverpool.

Danny had endless chances including playing with some great players and never cemented a spot, he's not exactly set the world on fire at Arsenal either. Same as Nani, time to look forward not back

I think it just hurts to lose local lads who like you say, clearly love the team. We'll never know, but I think we can have a good guess.

Danny left United because he wasn't playing down the middle. He joined arsenal where he thought he would and after 6 weeks there has found himself wide again!

I like welbz and he will always feel like our own but his time had come and his scoring record has hardly improved much if u take away the hat trick in the CL.

Would u pay 16m for him now? I know I wouldn't and to be honest arsenal need there heads testing for doing so imo.

Young was a good winger before he lost form, he has refound form. Welbeck, however, has never been capable of being a striker in a top team, so he never had the form to refind in all honesty.

Don't know where people keep coming from with welbeck, he can't finish mate. It's as simple as that! If your playing against Barcalona in the champions league and your gong to get two chances in 90 mins would you feel confident welbeck will put them away? I certainly wouldn't

I really liked welbeck but he wasnt and and don't think he ever will be clinical enough to be a top striker. He took instinctive chances well but if he had time he almost always fluffed it.

Welbeck has not scored in the league for Arsenal since the turn of the year. He has one of the worst goal to minute ratio's around and i can't understand the love fest with this guy. He is currently warming the subs bench for Arsenal and barring injuries is not even first choice there.

£16million to loan Falcao for the year or keep a homegrown player with plenty of scope to improve. Which would you choose now Chris?

08 Apr 2015 21:09:42
Lol JMB, looks like you were right to expect some stick.

08 Apr 2015 21:20:37
Who would I choose to have in my squad welbeck or falcao? Are u mental? Falcao came with a pedigree of a top top striker and for some reason has not worked out.

it's worrying that all this is based on hindsight with falcao from u but with Danny u have the previous to go on and hindsight and you would still choose him.

So yes if u offered me falcao at the start of the season I would of took it.

08 Apr 2015 21:29:11
Chris you said 'would you pay £16million for Welbeck now' isn't that hindsight? I am asking you the same in a hypothetical scenario. No need to get snappy.

08 Apr 2015 21:27:45
AJH - JMB and stick are one of the same these days!

08 Apr 2015 23:01:24
Lol I'm not being snappy mate, but if u read my post it's hardly hindsight when that's what he went for in the summer and it's not like he's been in red hot form ever let alone when he left.

Yes a decent player and nice lad it seems but no I would of chose falcao over keeping him in the summer. I would question anyone that would of not tbh bud.

JMB falcao before his injury was arguably one of if not the most lethal striker in world football. His goal per game ratio in Spain and France were incredible! Without a crystal ball nobody could say he would have such a poor season with us whatever the reason. On the other hand welbecks goal to minute ratio is shambolic really, he had years to cement a place and couldn't cut it. He can't finish his dinner. So I don't believe thre is a single person here who would of rather keep welbeck than take Falcoa at the beginning of this season

Watch Falcao have a huge year next year where ever he lands. People who have had this injury will tell you it is not a 4 to 6 months process and takes 18 months to get the knee very stable. He is a classy player and that never leaves you. Danny has never had class and more of a little bambi :))
