The one thing that impressed me the most with the performances against Spurs and Liverpool was that we were willing to pass to people in tight spaces, and their actual ability to not lose/waste the ball.
It has been one of the things that has annoyed me more than anything this season, that we are seemingly avoiding passing to anybody who is in a tight space or with opposition players around them.
When we had Scholes playing, we would feel confident in passing to him if he had the whole opposingg team surrounding him, with the confidence that he would use the ball well.
This season we just seem to avoid doing it, until these past two games.
Has anybody else noticed this?

Everyone looked comfortable on the ball which is what we want to see. Summer signings will improve this aspect as we get more and more players who love to have the ball at their feet like Hummels, Otamendi etc.

I think the big plus has been Smalling at the back. He is setting a good example of bringing the ball out of defence and distributing it well. It brings a calmness to the midfield rather than knocking it long and everyone scrambling for possession.
