I'm interested to hear everyone's opinion on the right wing. It appears we would like to secure a deal for Depay thus sorting the left wing. Who would you guys like to see take the right wing berth? Realistically the Muller/Bale type players aren't an option as they are looking to stay put. Who's out there that could do the business on the RW for us?

For pure comedy value, keep the scouse out the top 4 and pinch Sterling? ;)

I think Di Maria is the solution to the RW slot Rewz. If we bring in a powerful midfielder or a deep lying playmaker who can pick passes I can't see ADM fitting in anywhere else. Alternatively Januzaj will hopefully pick up his 2013-14 form again next year.

Considering we have Di Maria and Januzaj, and Mata proved he can do a job there too, I'm not sure we need to look at the right wing unless we sell Di Maria. Especially because signing a rb, cb, cm, and possible a new keeper and a new striker will probably be higher on our summer agenda.

If we signed Depay then we would have options of Di Maria, Depay, Januzaj and Young out wide. and all can play on either wing. I think that would be enough.

I agree with Ed (as previously stated down the page) that ADM is one of the most overrated players around. I personally hope that PSG come in for him and we take the cash and run! Although never reliable, it's been published that his wife isn't happy and ADM himself wants PSG so there could be something to it.

Does anyone know anything about Anwar El-Ghazi? Although I watch a bit of Dutch football I've only been watching the PSV games. Apparently he is very highly rated over there and is scoring about 1 in 2 from the wing. If anyone follows Dutch football is he any good?

I think their rise is symptomatic of a rise in anti-immigrant fever spreading throughout Europe, coupled with the austerity measures put in place by various governments. Society tends to lurch to the right, in times of economic trouble, as they lash out and look for someone to blame for their problems. I hope this answers your question.

Noucamp, there are certainly lessons from history we can learn from when it comes to the Right Wing. The Treaty of Versailles is an excellent example for root cause analysis.

Very true Stevie,

But I think we also need to pay attention to the incremental shift of traditional left-wing sectors of society to the right. What I call the rise of inverted right wingers.

I could do this all day :)

I was going to comment but the words got to big for me.
I'm off back to my jigsaw puzzle.

I agree that he has turned into a good performer for Liverpool after an indifferent couple of years. Some of the comments above state that if we had signed him he would have been cast aside by now. I would disagree. We signed Jones the same summer for £17m, Liverpool signed Henderson for circa £20m. I would say henderson has performed more consistently than Jones.

Small ing despite looking better of late has flatered to deceive over the last few seasons, Ashley Young has looked ropey. Valencia has been unconvincing since his injury against rangers in the champions league. Our club does not just cast players aside. And to be honest when his competition would have been Anderson and cleverly he would have got chances as even when he was struggeling to establish himself at Liverpool he was better than those two.
