Shall we run and lighten the mood?

1. What was the 1st Unted match you went to?
2. What was the most exciting match you went to?
3. Who is the best player you have seen play for United?

Mine are:

1. Fulham, FA Cup, 1979, 1-0 to us with Jimmy Greenhoff scoring. I sat on the bar with my legs through the railings and it snowed. Great memory.
2. I didn't get to the Nou Camp in '99 so mine was the FA Cup semi final in 1983 against Arsenal at Villa Park. We came from behind to win 2-1 with goals from Robbo and Big Norm.
3. I'm sure many of you will go for Ronaldo but for me, it is Eric. Domestically he was incredible, oozing class and attitude. Having lost the title to Leeds on '92 we were stuttering until Eric signed. If it wasn't Eric it would be Ryan Giggs. The youngsters on here won't remember him in his pomp, he was an incredible talent, not as bigger star as Ronaldo but for years he was just bloody good.

AJH - first game was a fourth round FA Cup game at Old Trafford against Walsall in 1998. Ole netted twice as did Andy Cole!

Most exciting game was the CL final in Moscow against Chelsea in 2008. Not the greatest of games but given what was at stake I was always on the edge of my seat and the penalty shoot out was gripping. Cost me a damn fortune but hey it's a memory that will live with me forever.

Most exciting player is a tough one. We have had so many over the past few years. It's tough to see past Ronaldo but when I started to understand football more as I grew up I was always in awe of Paul Scholes so I'm going to say the little red haired man in midfield. What a player.

First match was against Ipswich. I think it was 1-0 and Stapleton scored. Not sure of the year, 1984ish. Best match was probably King Erics comeback against Liverpool. Not the best result but a great atmosphere and when Eric celebrated spinning round the goal support i was behind the goal and right in line with him. Best player - well as you can see, a big Robbo fan. Could do with him now.

Captain, I did toy with Robbo. It was a shame he played in what was an average United side for so long. An incredible player who would have broken the England caps record if not for his injuries. Really pleased he was there for the title though.

1st game Wrexham away 1991 cup winners cup
Most memorable 2012 against Liverpool Rooney with 2 and evra winding up Suarez
Favourite was mark Hughes but best player would have to be Scholes

1. 1969/70 can't remember the game and only remember it for George Best running out on to the pitch, I guess the first real match I remember was Derby I think in 72
2. Most exciting, Barcelona 84, we were given no chance against them to pull back a 2 nil deficit and Robson was incredible. Only in the Nou Camp in 99 has anything touched that buzz
3. Best I have seen, Ronaldo. Loved Eric, I particularly loved Eric's performance at Maine Road that I went to when we were 2nil down at half time and city fans pelted us with Turkish Delights after we lost in Europe to Galatasary, Eric conducted a brilliant, exhilarating second half display with Keane scoring the winner. I have seen all since 70 but Ronaldo's debut at OT was just sensational, that day I knew a star had arrived. Giggs could have been but never took the last step to world greatness. Best was great but I only saw him in brief spells after his greatness in the sixties. So Ronaldo for me.

Agree with Scholes Simon. What a player!

I can't remember the first or even the best game I went to, but the best player I ever saw was George Best. I still remember this fantastic goal against Sheffield United when we were vying with them for top of the table. I nearly died at that match. The crush outside the ground was intense. On the way in i went down one gate and my scarf went into the other.

Second has to be Dennis Law. His whole persona was amazing. I was in the Stretford End Paddock, and having been called offside for the umpteenth time he walked slowly over to the linesman, sodden jersey hanging out, sleeves extended down to his fingers, and flicked him a V sign. Bobby Charlton wasn't bad either.

I'm sorry to say I had a period between moving to the US in the early 80s and the advent of US TV coverage when I hardly saw a game.

Now I get to watch every game and because i get back to the UK more often, go to a few more matches.

Leicester City at Home 4-0 win Sparkys last home game before he left for Barcelona he scored a hatrick.
Got two really 3 all at home to Barcelona Lee Sharpe flick class! Blackburn at home to pick up first title in years.
For me has to be Captain Marvel Bryan Robson absolute class act wish we had one of him now.

First game: Utd v Villa Old Trafford 1957. 1-1. Most exciting game? So many !!! One that sticks in the memory is V Sunderland (1962/3 ?) 3-1 down two minutes to go . Law and Charlton make it 3-3 ! Go to Roker 2-2, go to Hillsborough (neutral ground 5-0 to us !!) Best player - BEST !! One of the greatest players of all time. Could that be said of outstanding Cantona, Scholes or Robson?

First match was against Millwall at the old Den in 89. I was with my uncle, who was a Millwall fan, so I had to sit with the Millwall fans. I had my United top on under my coat. I was 8 at the time and my uncle thought he could turn me from United to a Millwall fan lol. He had no chance.
The game wasn't great. It finished 0-0.

1. Nov '77 - Norwich at home. Humdrum 1-0 victory that wouldn't have looked out of place this season :) Stuart Pearson scored, and became my instant idol. Remember hanging around outside OT the day before, and players would just stroll in and out of the ground signing autographs. Coppell, Hill, Greenhoff, Mcilroy. Loved them all
2. Nou Camp '99, without a shadow of a doubt. Like Planes Trains & Automobiles to get there, but worth it in the end. Got to drink with Robbo, Bestie and a few others that night as a wee bonus. '79 FA Cup final was an honourable second.
3.Too young for Georgie. Loved Coppell and Hill on the wings when I was a kid, but the most complete footballer I've ever had the privilege to see ever, never mind in a red shirt, was Paul Scholes without a shadow of a doubt. You only have to ask the likes of Zidane and Xavi what they thought of him.

1.cant remember the exact year but it was early 80's v Tottenham won 4-2 remember Arthur graham scoring. Most exciting match was the game against Sheffield wed,2 Steve Bruce injury time goals.Best player without any question was Bryan Robson my all time hero

1. Late 60s against leeds at ot and we lost!
2. Against wba in 70s we lost 5-3 but an incredible match.
