With the transfer window coming to the final stages I am a little concerned with the business of our rivals so far who seem to strengthening for the tail end of the year.
City have splashed on Bony who will score goals, Chelsea are publicly hunting for Cuadrado and Arsenal have addressed their poor defence by brining in Gabriel Paulista. Also concerning is the timely return of Sturridge at Anfield and the fact the Saints have held firm by keeping their top performers during this window.
I know January is a tough month to get the right players in but we have several areas in our team which is worryingly poor at the moment. As much as we need a defender, our forward play has been abysmal and we are crying out for someone to link the forward to the middle of the park.
We were told it would be a 'three transfer window period' to regain a top squad but if we don't get a player in this month does that mean we will need another window as well? It would be good for morale and the fans if we could get someone through the door before the deadline.
Juan, I think realistically any signings in the January window can be seen as a "bonus". I think it is widely recognised that the summer transfer window is when clubs aim to do their main business.
As for being "concerned" abut the return of Sturridge and other teams' transfers, I am not at al bothered. Despite the concerns about our defence, we have more than enough quality in our squad already to finish in the top 4. 3rd is quite realistic and more than achievable with the squad we have.
People keep going on about the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, Spurs etc having a poor season so far, but what about us? We have, on the whole, been poor. So if the likes of those mentioned above are expected to improve in the second half of the season, why can't we?
If LvG, and just as imporantly the players can start performing as they are quite capable of, we should finish top 3. It wouldn't even surprise me to see someone challenge City for 2nd.
If we can get our own house in order, there is no reason at all to concern ourselves with what other teams are doing. At least . that is my view anyway.
Douglas Costa also is on Chelsea's radar and a deal is being negotiated. That would be Cuadrado and Costa in January for them.
I would imagine it would be one or the other fresh not both. They need to sell and I can't see both Salah and Schurrle going.
We (Chelsea) haven't completed any transfers. It doesn't look likely that Cuadrado will join and tbh I don't think you've got to worry much about Douglas Costa joining. He'd be an underwhelming transfer to say the least.
When your team finally starts clicking you'll be fine.

Betty - I suppose our rivals for 3rd/4th are getting better and are strengthening on top of that, we are not looking like we are getting better yet, we look no further along than the first game of the season in terms of our play.
Hopefully its a simple case of all the behind the scenes work clicking in one go, rather than us watching it develop as it seems to be with our rivals.
That is why people are concerned, momentum is important now.
They won't buy Cudrado and Costa as they both play more or less in the same position.
