Yesterday's performance reminded me of the last 2-3 years of the Ferguson era. Lower league teams playing with all their heart against us and United defending somehow. Wingers beating our fullbacks (Evra mainly) and giving in crosses all day long. But the main difference was that we somehow managed to get that odd goal and win. We could have got that odd goal yesterday also if Rooney wasn't playing. People talk about dropping Mata but atleast he got us a couple of freekicks in dangerous areas. The sad thing though was us not winning even with the help of that incompetent refree. Maybe he was just trying to make up for the capital one game.
On another note that zaha kid looks ok, maybe we should bid for him.

Sailor - Even under SAF it was rare teams like Palace came away the better team creating the most chances. I appreciate the last 2-3 years were nowhere near the high standards he previously set, but our play was still light years ahead of this shambles we see almost every week now.
We lacked the quality players in SAF's final years. LVG doesn't have that same excuse. This current team would be smashing the league under SAF and we would be attractive to watch. I have no doubt whatsoever about that, even with the glaring un-balance in our team after 3 windows and major investment.

Utter bs. Under fergie we attacked and scored but were not putting teams away like we used to. What was frustrating was our helper skelter defending a lead and hanging on with likes evra and an ageing ferdinand and vidic.
Not surprising because we hardly and any money to spend the last few years of fergie's reign until we refinanced our debt 3 years ago.
I am amused how people can compare watermelon to apples to try and find an excuse. Wait for it as we are now 4th and a few more weeks of this s. t when we are looking up the rainbow crew will all turn.
