The performance against Leicester was poor and I think everyone agrees with that.

The difference is that the team are working hard and keep going, The quality will come in time and with some additional players that fit the mould of our club.

Our squad has been stripped down to bare bones and I suspect it will be the same next summer.

The club is trying to oversee a complete reset, so I wouldn't expect much to happen in January either apart from a few players leaving.

I will back ole until the end, I do think he has been brought in with a clear out the rubbish and reset the team spirit and work ethic.

I think next two transfer windows will provide a clear indication of where the club is moving . I think if we can add 4 quality first teamers in the next two transfer windows we will be a very good team next season. Four good purchases and about four youngsters getting into the first team and performing as expected will help us have a very good squad.

If the team are working hard and keeping going and also winning games are you sure we are all in agreement that we were poor on Saturday?

Leicester are a good side and will cause many teams problems this season, to keep a clean sheet and see the game out how we did was quite impressive really. McTominay certainly wasn’t poor, fantastic performance from the kid.

It was a much needed victory considering the injuries of 4 first teamers.

That's the thing with this season. We played better against Wolves and drew. We were poor against Palace who got humped by spurs. City lost to Norwich. Its one of those things. We lack quality but as long as we keep trying and cut down on individual errors we'll be fine. Just need to add more quality.

I'm hoping we don't get carried away in the transfer window and start making ridiculous offers to average players.

If the correct players are not available then we should just carry on with what we have got, one thing for sure under ole there will be no lazy signings.

It was workmanlike. Loved it to be honest. I'd like to see that midfield trio again and either keep pogba out of the lineup or pushed further as he can't be relied upon as a CM.

Hopefully we can build on this again and get some decent wins together.

Funny but winning workmanlike performances under Mourinho were heavily criticised.

Because it was the norm.

The most interesting thing about the Leicester game was the questions it raised about Pogba.

Matic is coming to the end of his top level career, but a midfield of him and McTom provided a more stable platform that kept possession, and mistakes to a minimum.

On the other hand, we created almost nothing from open play.

I know that people think playing Pogba in the number 10 role would solve this, but I don’t think he gives or offers enough in that role - he tends to be sucked back to the centre, leaving the striker isolated.

Imagine if we had sold Pogba this summer, and brought in SMS and Fernandes? That would be a midfield.

Sms and Bruno wouldve been a top combo.

Reading this thread shows that everyone sees what they want to see. Big V mate, not everyone, just some. Redman, you’re moving the goalposts now, you said it was a must win game, you didn’t mention entertainment.

Before the game people were saying they had better players, blah blah blah. They looked ordinary to me buy maybe that’s how we played. I didn’t find it particularly pretty but I love that McT completely bossed Maddison and that Maguire shoved the Leicester boos down their throats.

to be fair ajh in a few positions they do have better players i think that's fair.
But we out fought them we chased and harried even periera did well with that part if his game i think they all did actually.
Ok so we didn't create 1 shot on target from open play or hardly an attempt but the players were obviously trying their best. That bodes well. Creating chances is difficult when you don't control the ball and tempo our midfield is sadly lacking so we will have to play like that all season there is no reason why they can't and no reason to think they won't improve as they go.
Ole does need a little run of wins to get some momentum going.

Ken, right now apart from City and Liverpool I think there a lot of evenly matched teams, this is the year to give some youngsters game time, the results have been a bit mad so far, I’d hate to predict any scores right now.

Yeah bookies loving it. Freak results wolves in bottom 3 its been a weird start for all apart from Liverpool. The teams that find some consistency over the next 10 games can take advantage.

Leicester have some serious quality players with them.
Players like Ndidi, Telimens, Maddison and Chilwell will walk into our team.

After the 3 winless games, this victory was essential for the team's confidence.

Not moving any goalposts. It was a must win game and we won it, about which I am happy. However people were pointing out the game as something good yet used that same trait against the previous manager.

Nou

You say it was the norm under the previous manager, however is that 4 wins in 18 for Ole, I don’t see that as the norm either.

7 wins from 17 for Jose before he was sacked, maybe it is the norm after all.

If Jose was sacked with a better record than Ole, why is OGS still here? Sentiment.

I don't understand the logic of comparing a new campaign with the last 10 games of previous season.
How about the run of 12 wins from 14 matches?

Half of the squad is different now.
Starters like Lukaku, Sanchez, Smalling are shipped out.
Young, Matic aren't guaranteed starters.

20.) 17 Sep 2019

Danny - SMS and Bruno would have been a really nice combination in midfield. Bruno further forward and sms deeper with mctominay. We missed a trick there.

You have to look at the permanent record separate from the temporary one. Easy to come in and be nice but that changes on permanency. You look at the managers previous record and have to be aware of whether history is repeating itself. People would have judged LvG or Mourinho in that way so OGS must also be.

22.) 17 Sep 2019

Red Man. Look at the injuries the team suffered during the temporary and permanent reign.
Moreover, everyone knows that the board has left Ole handicapped with their immature handling of transfers.

Ole handicapped by transfers? Then why declare he was happy.

So it’s injuries that saw us stuffed at Everton and losing the last two games of the season against who? . Injuries at home to Palace a couple of weeks ago as well? Or Wolves away where he didn’t bring a striker on til too late?

Ole hasn’t shown he can get a team to play good football or win at the level we are at.

24.) 17 Sep 2019
17 Sep 2019 17:45:26
So you want him to mourn about it and spread a toxic environment around the squad? lol.
That's one of the reason his predecessor got sacked.

25.) 17 Sep 2019
17 Sep 2019 18:29:11
Redman you can't expect ole to go down the toys out of the pram route jose went down. It didn't work for jose it won't work for ole. Its not in his nature to be like that. It was in joses.
This squad under ole can make top 4 then build from there. If he fails to deliver he will be fired i expect. But there is no reason why we can't get top 4 and win a cup. That constitutes good progress from last season. If he fails to do either of those and the team are not progressing under him he will be relieved if his post.

18 Sep 2019 08:49:45
Ken,

I agree to a certain extent, still think Christmas will be a review time. I don’t want Ole to fail but believe it is too big a job and top four is a big ask. If he gets top four wins a cup I will hold my hands up.

I agree on part jred.
It's very high risk leaving the midfield and attack as light as we have. But if we do get top 4 and can address them better next year then it will have proven to be a risk with taking.
