Final point on Ole, honest. There are more than the 2 points of view that have been highlighted. I thiink a common view, including mine, is that I have no idea how it will work out but let's see what happens, we probably need 10 games to see a pattern. Pre season was great but we ate analysing every love in every game.

I’m with you Tony. Can’t wait till the weekend so we can focus on winning again.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Ole as a manager, we all unequivocally want to see United win. We seem to be a team that uses momentum, either good or bad. Hopefully we can start with 3 points Saturday.

Judging teams and players on a game to game basis is a bit nuts imo.

1 year in is the time to appraise ole fairly. Hot start poor middle ciuld begin to get hot again. Currently we can beat any side on any given day. But we can also lose to any side on any given day.

I think it's fair to say now is not the time to assess how he has done. I think a year gives a decent amount of time. Although the end of the season seems most logical.

Either way rather than when I would like to know HOW will he be assessed?

Points on the board? Style of play? How much he has improved the players? Giving youth a chance? In truth all of these things should be considered when the time comes to assess him. How much progress has been made, and how much more can he improve further?

For what it’s worth I don’t think 1 year in is fair on Ole, he spent the half of that year managing and trying to resurrect someone else’s team. It would not be fair to judge any manager on those terms even if they took over a good team.

I think it’s only fair to judge him when it’s his team/ his players. That will never happen though.

Whatever your stance on Ole is, what are peoples minimum expectations this season? Must he get top 4?

8.) 28 Aug 2019

Top 4 has got to be the target anything else would be a poor season imo.

He must get top 4 mumbles or win the Europa imo. Either way we must be back in the champions league next season to attract the Calibre of players needed.

Irrespective of whether we view top 4 as the expectation for the season, I feel it will be the necessyity to bring in the type of player next summer that we will need to elevate us to the next level of our development.

Top 4 has got to be the minimum requirement. Ideally a couple of good cup runs leading to a trophy. Winning anything would inspire some of our younger players.
If we finish out of the top 4 then it will have been a poor season.
My initial target was 15 points more than last season. That is still achievable although in my reckoning was stopping to drop silly points at home.

It has to be 4th minimum. A cup would be nice.

I agree Ken, last season dropping points at home killed us. Was hoping that would stop this season.

Yeah Mort it would be nice to get a run going but its been that way for years now.

I want and hope OGS can succeed, it also depends on whether the management back him, and let's be honest, the transfer window was ok but not brilliant.
However, the fact still remains that United in the past 20 PL games have amassed a poor 19 points. So, while we all want OGS to succeed, we must also be wary if results do not imorove between now and Christmas.
But with a bit of luck, they will.

Focus everything on top 4. It's vital for our continuing development. Use the cups to give the youngsters some game time. Depending on the opposition, obviously.

Top 4 should be the aim.
Europa last 4 would be excellent.
I still feel we are short on fire power up front.

Arsenal's front 3 of Lacazette, Auba and Pepe are match winners.

Our squad needs luck in terms of injuries as we have a thin squad quality wise.

Top 6 with clear signs of improvement in style and team harmony. If he gets top 4, it would be great and make his task that much easier next season. I also believe he should be given until he has his own squad to be truly judged, unless he just fails miserably. He needs rid of the likes of Matic, Darmian, Jones, Rojo. and to replace them with his own choices, or simply players who match his style of play. Something that will take time.
