Just having a look at Ed002's list of targets from a couple of months ago and noticed this on AWB:

'Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) MU are interested and want to buy AWB but the £70M asking price is well beyond what the value him at'

So United have paid £25m less than the original asking price (with £5m in add ons), it is almost as if taking a little bit of time to get the best deal is the right way to go about the transfer window. We all go mad when the club doesn't do the right things but on this occasion it looks like they have played an absolute blinder.

£50m seems like a hell of a lot to pay for a RB with one season under his belt for Palace (who focus on defence) .

He looked good, but isn't that what Dalot was for? Surely we should be spending that money on experience to enable Dalot to come through?!

Palace are still laughing all the way to the bank here, but I agree a year or so ago we may well have just paid the stupid fee plucked from Utd dream land initially. Doubt any other clubs would pay £50m for AWB, let's hope he's worth it.

I would certainly not say the club have played an absolute blinder here mate, much rather the like of Cancelo for that type of money personally.

Beast,

Each to their own, I'd rather pay that kind of money for someone who we know will want to play for us and has played well in the EPL previously. AWB was the main target (whether he was the one you wanted or not) and we have got him for much less than his original asking price, seems a good thing to me.

Dalot can play both sides as well as further forward on the right so gives us a lot of options, AWB and Shaw won't play every game, can't really complain about improving the squad.

£50m might seem a lot but it really isn't these days, Zaha looks like he might be going to Arsenal for £80m as well and we could receive £20m of that transfer, so I am sticking with the blinder.

Wazza,

Sorry mate, just not one for being toxic, never have been.

Good post GDS. I actually disagree Beast. Cancelo is a great player going forward but he's been a shambles defensively, hence why Allegri wanted to sell him. I see he is still for sale as well so I do see him potentially going to City. Think he fits pep's mould better anyway.

Sure £50m seems a lot for RB with one year of experience. However, I guess that is the premium you have to pay for young British talent. He is brilliant defensively, he has topped the stats in most categories defensively for full back in the league. He can improve going forward, but he is exactly the type of signing United have made in the past. He is young, talented and seems to be a disciplined young lad. He fills a problem area for us and if we can get 10 good years out of him then it will prove to be excellent business. I am very pleased with the signing.

Totally agree Beast. £50m for a player who has had one good season is ridiculous, and i would not call that a "blinder". In fact, we've paid £20m more than we should.
Also, you made a good point that Dalot was bought to be our RB and we needed someone with experience while he matures.

Beast, don't worry. it's none of your money.

I wish everyone would forget about money as none of us have a clue 😂.

It is a lot of cash for a young lad with 1 year under his belt, no England call up infact not a definite starter for the u 21s .
But it is what it is, if he plays well people won't care what he cost .

Dalot will play further forward this season.

Cancelo gets sent off all the time in my FM game. He's a flippin liability. We should steer well clear of him.

I can see Dalot playing Infront of AWB on several occasions this season. You'd like to think with two full backs, one being the best defensive full back in the league last season, our right flank will be near unpenetrable.

I have a feeling dalot will be moved forward and the right side could look that way for years to come. There's not many better crossers in our squad if any.

Agree with good 100%. I think ole likes him more forward he's tried it a few times plus he can cover both right and left of defence. Dalot could be a very useful player next season.

City paid more for their RB who recently spoke to reporters after signing a new improved CE. In the Interview Mr Walker told the reporter " When i was growing up it was my dream to play for this great club, I am now here and want to win for the fans ". I taught he was a spurs fan growing up.

I would imagine that dakot will be 1st chiice cover at rb and lb which should guarantee him at least 30 starts a season and also possible cover further forward on the right. So like a few have said above i think he will have a maggot role to play and in all likelihood will be in 85% of match day teams or bench if he stays fit.
I think the same will apply to mctom.
Key players who i'm sure will feature regularly.
Ive given up on the cost of players. If he is here and played well for a dozen years it will be looked at as a snip. If not he will be deemed as too expensive.

Agree Ken. Wasted money is really only on poorly scouted players who just dkn't work out, or players that are so grossly over priced that it becomes a stick to beef them with.

I don't think this value is either of those, but only time will tell. I certainly think he slots straight into our starting line up, which is a good start.

Excellent recruitment imo.
A proper RB who can defend and a proper winger with electric pace.
