Nice write up giggsy. I think if we are looking to implement a building from the back approach then that rules out Oblak and Donnarumma. And funnily enough they would be my choices if/ when DDG leaves. Donnarumma has had a really good season from what I’ve seen. But his weakness with the ball at his feet is a big deficiency. I like Mendy he’s promising. But I do really think we can survive a year with Romero and Henderson fighting it out. Henderson isn’t ready yet, and Romero is a more than adequate fill in. I do think we can live without a Ederson type sweeper keeper if we have cbs who can build from the back. So Oblak would be my choice.

Henderson is the best keeper at United and will be England no1
Why is he not ready park?
He is a top keeper and will improve. I've seen lots of him and he is more than ready.
He is a million miles better now than ddg was when he joined.

I meant best keeper if ddg leaves of course😂
But he is better now than ddg was when he arrived.
Im not suggesting he has the same ceiling as ddg but when ddg arrived he was poor for 12 months. Henderson is better than that by a long way.

Ken i like your optimism. i think henderson will be a top keeper. but no 1 for united is a huge step to no1 at Sheffield united. especially with a shocking defence in front of him. romero deserves the chance.

I think more people need to watch the Championship. Henderson wasn't just the best keeper at Sheffield United, he was the best keeper in the Championship. He was a big reason for Sheffield United having the best defensive record, he commanded his back line. The area he needs to improve is playing out from the back.

He is at the same stage as DDG was when he became our No.1. However, when DDG became No.1 he had a great defence ahead of him. That said Henderson is used to the culture and the more ready for the EPL.

Personally I feel Henderson needs to be first choice in the EPL next season. So I would loan him back to Sheffield United for a season after tying him down to a new long term deal. Then have Romero as No.1 next season with Grant and Joel Pereira as back up.

Romero is not that good imo.
Decent but not great .
Never really let us down to be fair but was not good v wolves in the cup.
Henderson will be englands no 1 within next 12 months imo.

If DDG leaves Romero then Henderson all day long. Don’t waste money on a new keeper when we have those two and other areas to strengthen.

That being said Shappy, he made a hell of a lot of mistakes and threw away a lot of points in big games for them at various times in the season. Definitely needs a season in the prem, also has quite the attitude on him, sometimes good but also gets the best of him at times.

Anon, he's 20 years old, every keeper will make mistakes its how they recover and from what I've seen he has the confidence and character to do just that, I watched him make 2 mistakes against villa which cost goals, he stood up, went to the fans, held his hands up and moved on, that to me shows the signs of a top keeper in the making.

Ideally Henderson would have a season in the PL with Sheffield United and then be 100% proven. Think this is what Ole wants but with DDG not signing a new contract that means we probably have to sell him this summer and so then a decision has to be made about Henderson.
I believe he is going to be good enough.

I know Henderson fairly well and can say a few things will have to change for him to be at the club next season .
The lad has other things lined up.
