A pub I was in yesterday were showing Shearer's goals - they spent a while on Utd/ Newcastle. The amount of leaders we had and what I would call 'serious' men on the pitch back in 99:

Schmeichel, G. Neville, Stam, Keane, Sheringham - as stand outs.

But then you had the likes of Scholes, OGS, Irwin, Butt, Beckham, Cruyff, Phil Neville, Berg, Johnsen, van der Gouw and others around. All of these in one way or another went on to be captains, managers or people you would sit up straight to listen to - or at least showed a clear intelligence and sincerity about their football and in life. Some are arguable, but you need men to be led as well.

Now we have next to nothing to look at, the bar of leadership at our club now would not break into my second or third string of that 99 team. We lack a seriousness, an accountability to our behavior. Until we sign a group of real men, that can convert the mindset of the many at the club, we will continue to flounder.

Rotten apples have corrupted the barrel for too many years, we need to empty the barrel before we add more apples to it.

We have lots of leaders Beast. Lingard and Pogba have loads of followers on Twitter, so by definition they must be leaders!
