We all keep talking about the top 4 and how important CL football is, but it is looking possible that we may need to finish 3rd at this rate.

How does that work if an English team wins Europa and champions league, 1 of the winners being outside top 4 and we finish fourth?

{Ed002's Note - Then a fifth side enters. If both win and neither are in the top four then fourth drops out - but it is impossible for that to happen this year.}

Only if spurs win cl and aren't in top 4. Europa winners are guaranteed a spot from day 1. champs league winners are expected to qualify by league position. I'd like ajax to win champions League.

Europa League guarantees a spot to the winner only change if a non top 4 wins is that 3rd then has to qualify. It's only if the champions League is won by a non top 4 that 4th doesn't get champions League football but again 3rd would have to go through qualifiying. So basically forget the Europa league it's all about champions league as the winners are expected to qualify by league position.

This is how I believed it to be or have they changed this now to a maximum of 5 from any one league ed?

ED02 - why is it impossible for that to happen this year? Spurs could potentially win the CL and drop out of the top 4 and Chelsea the EL and also finish outside the top 4.

What a terrible state of affairs, hoping certain teams wins and lose and not qualify so we can have a modicum of success. Big work in the summer, I agree on a post above about Ole wanting to change how we play, I feel Ole wants to be a pressing, high energy team with counter attack, as we’ve gone thru change after change we need to have patience now and Ed needs to let the football men make the football decisions, including transfers.
