Bad day at the office today. Had a bit of a bad feeling today and just felt like we wouldn’t be at the races. We looked sluggish and flat for the first 30. I don’t think the formation helped and when changed we looked better. Started the second half well and we created a lot of chances. I thought Lukaku should have buried a few of his chances today. His finishing was poor but his overall play was excellent. He is brimming with confidence but his finishing really let him down.

We were bound to have a loss and unfortunately it came in a massive game for top 4. Call me cynical but I think top is gone with arsenal’s Run in being so easy. I would put all our eggs in one basket for the champions league tbh. Shaw was brilliant once again and j thought Fred was really good at times today. Rashford looks like he’s carrying an injury. We should not get too down about today. We learn from this and go again.

Well spurs aren’t exactly secure in 3rd and games aren’t played on paper, arsenal will drop points same as us and Chelsea and spurs, a way to go yet, we wasn’t quite at it, we still was the better team in terms of chances created, one of them days.

Still 8 games left if we can win the games coming up and are still within a sniff come the city Chelsea games I think we will be fine.

Spurs have had games left.

Could come down to the Chelsea game for a top 4 place.

The togetherness and positivity around the club has been incredible recently. Not going to feel too down about a game that just didn't go our way.

Yes we have to be more clinical in front of goal. Yes Dave the Save made a bad error in reading the shot. Yes the penalty was a soft as the turf under Steven Gerrards boot. But I thought we were always in the game and some days you just pick yourself up and go again.

We can still finish ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea and maybe Tottenham. Lot of football to be played yet.

In Ole we trust :)

Massive loss a win I think would have pushed Arsenal out of the race for top 4, we cannot afford to drop points to city and Chelsea now. With spurs and Chelsea dropping points we could have put ourself into strong position, maybe the wake up call some of our players need after celebrating Wednesday like they won the quadruple.

Jaime,

Do you think they shouldn’t have celebrated like that on Wednesday after one of the best nights in our history?

Beaten at our own game today maybe even guilty of believing in our own hype.

The first 30 minutes weren't good enough. There was a real lack of intensity and aggression. We were passive and allowed Arsenal to grow in confidence. Matic looked rusty and well off the pace. A De Gea howler and Matic had to close the shot down quicker, the way he just ambled out was criminal especially in such a big game. The work rate and desire was missing for 30 mins. I don't mind sitting deep but there must be pressure on the ball and a desire to close down when the opposition enter the final third.

The second half was better and we pressed higher but Arsenal always looked dangerous on the break. Fred was guilty of carelessly giving the ball away in a really good attacking position and they go straight down the other end and he gives a stupid penalty away. Ok it was soft but there is no need to make that challenge, show him down the line and block the cross. He made two bad mistakes in a matters of minutes and we got punished. On such fine margins games are won and lost. Stay in the game, considering other results a draw would have been more than acceptable in a difficult away fixture.

For me the desire and work rate was missing today. Yes we created chances but we were timid and that real desire and hunger to close down and put the opposition under pressure was lacking. Arsenal beat us at our own game. We never looked secure and they always looked likely to catch us on the break. From an attacking perspective we were guilty of not releasing the ball quickly enough and getting caught in possession.

It's hard to be too critical but after Wednesday I expected us to be flying. I thought we'd at least get a point and feel we've missed a huge opportunity. I just can't help feeling disappointed.

Maybe I'm being a touch harsh but I'm now judging us from a higher standard. Too many individual errors and a lack of intensity cost us the game today.

With Martial returning, our attack will improve even more.

imo, we had the best chances in the game. The strikers had an off game.
