Lovely ed. An incredible man.

He respected Liverpool an awful lot. Himself and Kenny had a great relationship.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, they were good friends and still are friends.}

His ability to change with the times was his biggest asset. He wasn't afraid of change, he welcomed it. Kicking out the boozers from the squad in his early days, some quality players but it was for the greater good.

Domestically he got the better of every one of his adversaries over time. It was almost like he needed them to make himself and the team better. The first title win was obviously huge but the team that lost to Blackburn was replaced with a sprinkle of youth. The team that had to overcome Wengers incredible Arsenal was a treble winning team. When it got too easy domestically in 00/ 01/ 02 the team suffered for a few years. It wasnt until Jose rolled into town to lay down a dynasty and put United on the back burner that birthed the great 07/ 08 team. Even with the blank cheque of Man City the great man managed to overcome them one last time to sign off in the most perfect way.

The players encompassed his attitude. All his teams adapted and never gave in. Each team different from the last but had his fingerprints throughout them.

From 93 onwards I'd imagine 99% of his first team signings left with a league winners medal. Amazing.

The greatest.

Great article ed, never came across those stories about michael keane and the season ticket holder from leicester before. Just goes to show the class of the man.

Great article Tris. Would a John OShea, Wes Brown, Ji Sung Park have won EPL titles with other teams? Darren Fletcher, Johnny Evans, Tom Cleverly, the list goes on. SAF had many talents but his greatest was building a team who could play almost beyond their potential. He got players to step up and make the best of what they had and as we have seen recently not all Managers can do that.

Man management and developing talent almost feels like a lost art, SAF may have been one of the last great proponents.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

He got the absolute maximum out of players. Which meant that ordinary pros became winners.

Still can’t believe how he got Utd to win the league in his final season in 2013. Utd were an ordinary side that season.

I love the born offside quote. Still makes me chuckle to this day. What a legend of a guy.

Great read, as always when you read something new about Sir Alex.

The legend will only grow as time passes.

AJH getting the most out of players was one of his strengths - remind you of anyone?

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}
