I am already seeing people moaning about the management decision before he has even taken a training session which worries me, this league season is pretty much a write off I think we all agree on that so let's try a few things and see what happens, get behind the club legends that are in charge of the club and hope they get the players playing how we want them to.

If not then we rebuild with a whole new fresh start in the summer. I tell you one thing, I am looking forward to Saturday and Boxing Day much more than I was 3 days ago, and that's not just because I found out my Aunt isn't coming for Christmas dinner this year!

Agreed GDS2, there is a little feel good factor from appointing a club favourite, and generally lifting the cloud. I don't think everything was Jose;s fault and fans need to understand we are a long way from where we want to be, but a lift in mood might be the first step. I hope everyone gets behind Ole and the players now and has some patience and acceptance that we won't be suddenly a great team.
And finally a big thanks to the Ed's especially Ed002 who give us the best information you can find anywhere, and put up with all the nonsense, in mostly good humour.

It's just baffling GDS, nothing more I'd love than to see OGS smash it because as a fan nothing would please me more.

But I just see it as another time where ed woodward has tricked fans. There are a lot of issues that we are messing up pn, so let's throw a club legend at the job and the fans will love it.

Nothing against OGS, just the disappointment of seeing yet another ridiculous play by the men in charge.

You must admit gds it does seem a peculiar appointment, I will obviously get behind him and the team it seemed a bit crazy to me .

I saw a post somewhere yesterday that said we would all be pissing ourselves laughing if city sacked pep and bought kinkladze in and I suppose it's not that far from the truth.

kinkladze? What a awful comparison, i'm not fussed about ole taking over but kinkladze is that the best you could do.

If Pep was in 6th place, had been an absolute nightmare, sucked all the fun out of the game and the club needed a complete overhaul with new technical director and manager in the summer and a bit of time to sort it out and they decided to spend that time with a club legend in charge I would probably understand it just like I understand this. Kinkladze has no management experience so not exactly like for like.

Wasn't Guardiola a Barcelona legend who managed the reserve team before getting the main job? OGS has more similarities to him than Kinkladze I would say.

He wouldn't have been my choice, but Jose was my choice so what do I know? I would have loved to see Kieran McKenna have a go and I am glad he is sticking around, I would love to know what frustrations he had with Jose and whether anything him and Carrick did was listened to. The McKenna under 18 team was great to watch, exciting and fun, the complete opposite of this season. I actually look at OGS with the 3 behind him and think we could be in for a fun 6 months. If not then nothing ventured and the club will have had time to get the right setup in the summer.

The point of the interim manager is to give the club time to get things right for the long term. Not just go for a quick fix. I think there will be a good response to Ole. He is a club legend, and he will be positive in his demeanor and his tactics. Looking forward to Saturday.

Spot on GDS. I think we just need to get over the ole signing and just try and enjoy our football again. People need to stop reading into it so much. It seems we will go all out for Poch in the summer so this is a great opportunity for ole to unite, harmonise and lift the dressing room. It is also an opportunity for the players to express themselves a bit more and go out and enjoy their football and entertain the fans. With Phelan there to provide some much needed nous and experience, I believe we are in safe hands. Add McKenna and Carrick and we have a lovely blend of youthfulness and experience. Add to that ole who bleeds united, we now finally have someone who is ‘one of our own’ that many fans have been craving.

Instead of moaning I think we should be relieved Jose is gone. Most fans wanted it and they have their wish. We haven’t rushed into signing someone just because they are available. It seems we might just have a plan for once. Can’t we just get behind ole and see what happens? You never know he might just surprise a few. Even if he does great he is only staying for a while and that’s fine. I don’t see any issues with that. And with a much happier and confident squad, fingers crossed we have Poch walking through the door in the summer raring to go. Personally I’m very excited and just cannot see what the fuss is about tbh.

Too many people missing the point that OGS is temorary because carrick has no licene to coach for more than a 12 week period. We are aslo looking at a DOF to come in. How could Blanc or ZZ come in at such short notice and how would that be good?

The names been thrown about. ZZ, Blanc, Poch are bound to be approached or interviewed (where applicable) in the coming weeks and months in a measured and professional manner we would hope .

Also I read yesterday another journo saying input from Carrick and McKenna has been generally ignored by JM (who knows if that's true) so let's see if Ogs/ Phelan/ Carrick/ mckenna and Butt to an extent can get us on an even keel again. Playing football.

Sorry fzz maybe I should have used shaun goater.

I am not professing to know anything either gds, I don't and I also thought jose would win the lot with us .

Maybe all the optimism and joy have been knocked out of me the last couple of months I'm just not looking forward to seeing a guy I've always admired get absolute pelters from the fans or the press if things go awry.

It’s always the case GDS. you just have to go on Twitter and see people writing of ole before we have even kicked a ball. We could appoint pep and people would still complain. I guess that’s the modern fan. You see these fan channels who would much rather stir up controversy and split a fanbase for likes and retweets by taking advantage of our current plight.

I must admit I wasn’t sure about ole as manager. But the more I think of it the more I believe it may turn out to be shrewd move. Bringing in Phelan is so integral as ole has someone with a vast amount of experience and nous. Moreover, it’s an opportunity to unite and harmonise the dressing room whilst getting the players confidence up and enjoying their football again. It also gives us time to restructure the club and really conduct our due diligence in our search for our next manager. It seems Poch is the target which I am buzzing about tbh. He clearly is not attainable so appointing ole as a stop gap is fine for me.

I am buzzing for Saturday’s game, which I have not been for so long. Let’s all pull together and get behind the team because I do feel we will start to see some more exciting football which is in keeping with the United way.

Don't see the sense in the OGS appointment at all. The wrong guy has gone. Pogba AND Woodward should both have gone before Jose.

If these players wouldn't perform before why suddenly do we think they will now? There is no logic to that.

Pogba is all wrong for United and needs to be gone.

OGS is simply a popular ex-player, a fan favourite, a nice guy. what has he done as a manager at this level. for a club that prides itself on being one of the top 1-2 clubs in the world how can this appointment make sense? In no other line of work would this ever happen, NOWHERE!

All this does is give the club an excuse not to spend in January on what we need. because we don't have the right guy in place for the long term. terrible forward planning yet again, as we stumble from one poor decision to the next.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. same leadership presided over Moyes, LVG, Jose, OGS and now they will suddenly right the ship long term?

I truly hope they make the right appointments for next season. but that's my heart talking because I love watching Manchester United. but my head says this could be a long painful road.

Flying into Manchester from Boston tonight to be home with family in York and Glasgow. not been back in Glasgow for 15 years!

Best for the holidays to all.

GDS,
I am reasonably happy with OGS and happy to wait and see.
The potential dilemma as I see it is if we see an immediate dramatic improvement do we hail OGS as the conquering hero or do we finally come to terms with having spoiled brats who misuse player power. It will not a black and white situation (never is) but if we believe that it is predominantly the second, how do we feel about keeping them? Who would trade points on the board against the risks of the current nightmare recurring.

OGS was brought in as interim manager till the end of the season. I don't see the issue with the appointment, can it really get any worse from where we are at this point in time, allardyce and pardew are still available so I think it can. This gives the club 6 months to find and appoint a new manager, at least they are not rushing it and just appointing someone cause they are available. Hopefully by the end of the season we will have a director of football in place and a clear choice who we can the pursue as manager. People wanted change, they have got it and still aren't happy.
