If Jose does implode and leaves, thoughts on replacing him mid-season?

Media loves Zidane, and he does have a good record, has history with Pogba and Martial and seems a good man-manager, but, for the rest of the season, I’d go for the Venga bus, The Professor: point to prove, can organise a team, knows how to attack and would be a good short term option until the end of the season (ZZ woukd want a long contract - stuck with him if not live up to the hype)

If we are talking about anybody, then jardim for me.

ZZ i'm unsure about and a definite and resounding NO for wenger.

Which history does he have exactly with Pogba and Martial Wallace? Hasn't managed any of them before?

I am very wary of us appointing ZZ. I think he doesn't have a great deal of experience as a coach. Yes he has done well but he managed a squad that would probably have done well for any manager. Correct me if I am wrong but everything wasn't hunky dory between him and club president. Could be great but. Bit of a risk.

Zidanes a good man manager, which some of our lot need, but there's questions about his tactical versatility. Jardim would be good but ed2 suggests unlikely. I could see Woodward going for Wenger. Used to working on a budget with young players.

Wenger is about to turn 69 struggled at arsenal for the last few years and with the history he has with arsenal there is no way the club would go for him, or he would take a job with us .
The ed has suggested blanc and his name has come up before, not managing at the moment as well.

If jose leaves before the pudding and honey glazed ham i would take Wenger till the end of season.

His football style is miles better than park the bus jose. AW has a nac for getting great players and let's be honest if he had of kept his best players instead of rubbishty snapping them up and us with RVP

Who knows.

Maybe but whoevers picking managers isn't doing great so far. Personally I wouldn't want Wenger but I can see the thinking that could suggest him. In short I've very little confidence in the people running the club not botch it again.

You can't be serious about Wenger guys. He was far too rigid in his thinking towards the end and having inherited a terrific defensive unit he never built on that. Even today Arsenal suffer from lack of a solid base. All title winning teams are built on a solid defensive foundation which has been recognised by both Pep and Klopp. Zidane inherited a fantastic team but it's superstars were getting older and maybe he knew that and also that's it's talisman Ronaldo was going to Juve. Working under the pressure in the Premier League might be more than Zidane is capable of. As weird as this may sound I would not mind if Bielsa was given a chance. He has the knowledge and experience to handle a big club and would make out players a team who fight as well as play attractive football. (it would also really upset Leeda fans which would be a nice little bonus)

A bit left field but what about glen hoddle or micheal laudrap?

{Ed001's Note - the Michael Laudrup who wouldn't take coaching sessions in the rain because it messed up his hair when managing Swansea? He would only do one training session a season in Manchester!}

I cannot find Ed002's post on why Jardim was ruled out for us as Mort said. But, I wish we would get Jardim after Mourinho with Marcel Bout as DoF and back them wholeheartedly.

I would not mind a combo of Hoddle and Gary Neville if they could be persuaded to work together. Steel and no nonsense and Creativity.

For me, the outstanding candidate is Pochittino. He has experience in the PL and he's done fantastically well recruiting players on small budget. Spurs are great to watch and have a good balance between defence and attack.
I also think Diogo Simione will have to be considered. His teams don't play all action attacking football, but they play to a certain cohesive plan. And the players are super fit and can play the high pressing game.
Finally, i know he's taken on the Spain job, but Luis Enrique will be a different direction for the club and will finally have us playing the Barcelona way. But this will involve us changing half the team as we'll need players who can actually pass the ball under pressure. Our current crop of players are particularly bad at that.

Perhaps I’ve used the idea of “history” rather loosely Scholes but he has at the very least connected with both. Reports suggest they are “intrigued” by the prospect of Zidane as manager; indeed, Zidane admitted he’d have liked him at Madrid and described him as a cross between Makele and Viera.

(Plus the French Connection of course 😉)

{Ed002's Note - Maybe Pogba and Martial will move to a club that Zidane eventually joins then? Because both want out of Manchester United.}

Interesting insight Ed002, many thanks as always. May I ask if you think that PP and AM want out of MU just because if Mourinho, or do you believe they’d stay if Jose goes first? (Ie deeper issues at the club, not just JM. )

Shame though, as they get paid so much to be professional and do a job, regardless of who the boss is - unless JM is being unprofessional too.

{Ed002's Note - Players come and go, they are transient employees. The players Manchester United sign have come from other clubs - there doesn't need to be any weird background story going on. Pogba should never have signed. Martial was never worth what Manchester United paid for him. Nobody is being unprofessional.}

Hoddle is an interesting left-field choice. I'll be honest, I'd never really considered him until I saw him mentioned above. His England team were decent to watch, and there's no doubt he knows what he's talking about. Except when it comes to karma, obviously!

Could be anyone but he needs 4 or 5 new players whoever it is because this squad hasn't enough strength in depth to win the league.

Martial is not good enough and Pogba doesn’t want to be here. End the circus and sell them both!

{Ed002's Note - The circus is the fans.}

if that's the case about micheal laudrap that makes him an even more exceptional coach - what a legend!
