Not to mention, they've spent over a billion trying to buy the league since 1990, but okay, they aren't trying to 'buy the league'.

Had this arguement with some mates, when United spend money, we are buying the league, when anyone else spends money, it's not the same
Cant win.

Guys, for years we have spent more money than any other English club, so we can't rurn around now and complain because some press are taking the micky. It is what it is. We spent record amounts from Denis Law, to bryan robson to roy keane to Rio to Pogba and Lukaku.
So let's have a balance here. United have always been big spenders.

Thats not what i'm saying AAA, i'm saying they think they don't actually spend anything, just Utd do, hypocrites.

We earned what we spent.

We also won trophies spending that money. No trophy for 10 years. No league title for 28 years.

Exactly Mort. They've spent over a billion since the inception of the premier league. Average it out for every trophy they've won since then.

AAA, is what we spend not self generated mostly? We make money and spend it, its how football works from grass roots up. Chelski and Citeh got sugar daddies and spent their cash, not self generated. Its called buying the league. If i am wrong about our cash, please be good enough to tell me the errors of my way.

Agreed Cantona and RedMan, but to people looking in, we are the rich boys, and we bought our success. And you have to agree with that. Of course, we generate the funds, and that's great, but we still buy our success.
Scholes, i know what you're saying, but you have to take the press with a pinch of salt. City are everyone's darling as we've been winning everything for years. So to the non United followers, they want to see us fail, and with Mourinho in charge, we're giving them exactly what they want.

Every player bought is technically buying the league regardless of cost the irony being other than your keeper every player needs replacing for you to win the league again. Back 4 probably another midfielder 2 wingers an another striker too. Miles away from city at the moment.

they may not have won anything for 10 years but they are in a far better place to compete than us. Starting to sound like them banging on about history.

Regardless of what we spend or what others spend. the bottom line is we are playing absolutely awful football. Its a game, it's a sport and right now Man Utd are falling so far behind everybody else. The days when we were competing with Europes elite teams have gone and with this grumpy manager them days are not coming back anytime soon.

City have spent £1bn+ since 2010, and they have bought the league.

Everyone signs players and most of the top sides have spent a significant amount of money on recruitment.

However, it is impossible to say a side has bought the league unless they win it.

Over the last 20 years ourselves, Liverpool, City and Chelsea have spent a huge amount. Only three of those sides have bought the league though.
