Its ok to cry. Emotion is a personal thing people should express themselves. The stiff upper lip thing is BS.

Ken, I agree that the stiff upper lip is bullshit, I’m a modern man and have no trouble expressing my emotions. But there are far worse things happening than losing a football game, that’s my point. Sobbing and blubbing because you’ve a lost a game is a bit tragic, it kind of sums up the mania that has been built up around football in recent years.

I was near in tears at the final whistle an I weren't on the pitch or in the stands. Its the emotion. Its been a long road for a lot of us. 28 years since we've been in a word cup semi final. Look at the players we've seen pass through the England team in that time. Many of them more talented than these boys but lacking what these players have.

Whilst I agree in principle AJH, I do see why footballers get emotional. I agree it is just a game, but to the players it is not. It is a lifetime of hard work and blood, sweat and tears to get to where they are. They have probably dreamt of this for years and so when they achieve it sometimes the emotion gets too much. They are so invested in it and it’s not a game to them. It’s their life. So in that sense I can see why players cry.
