Just a quick question to all you folk out there, would any of you be prepared to take a punt on sean dyche being given the job?

Yes let's moan about mourinho's football and then give the job to a guy who is even more defensive than mourinho. If we want to replace Mourinho it has to be either pochettino or Jardim.

Which Job, Everton?

On the radio yesterday they talked about Burnley scoring only 14 goals at home this season.

Did we learn nothing from appointing Moyes?

No not in a million years. Doing a great job at burnley no doubt about that but Manchester United are in a different stratosphere and he does not have the experience required.

Well i'll take that as a definite maybe then! -as for being defensive minded, sure he is, but there again how much has he got to spend? if jose wants a striker, he only has to wait until the next transfer window, burnley have to plan a season in advance, his players know their jobs and you can't tell me any of them are slackers, their probably on a tenth of what pogba is on and yet (with probably a lot less ability) dyche is able to extract the best they can be week in, week out, i know people will say united are in a different stratosphere, and personally i think potchettino has the charisma, nouse and style of play that is the united way, but unless the united board and owners have the brass ones to pay a big compensation package to jose and then go and pay to get the potch. defensive minded football is here to stay, maybe jose will shock the world, buy neymar and ronaldo and go on the offensive, i'd love to see him give it a go, but with financial and marketing targets the possibility is slim to none, so fair enough, but i think there might be more to dyches' philosophy than defend, i think he deserves a chance at a bigger club (no discourtesy to burnley) .

Maybe in a fantasy world Utd could
if Jose only wants to stay a few years get Dyche in as assistant then he could learn about the club and develop under Jose and take over later. I did say in a fantasy world.

Not for me just yet, jm splits our support mainly because of the style we go about it. Dyche has done fantastic at Burnley and may well be able to be more expansive with better players but he could also stick with what works for him just as easily . For me to get a team like utd he would have to show what he can do at a side like Everton or Newcastle, do well and also show he can make them not only solid but innovative and exciting . It's a tough task but the utd job should require tough tasks to get it.

I don't think Jose is going just yet. Next season will be the decider for his tenure at United in my opinion.
Jardim seems a credible and popular option. I really like how Monaco play. But how would he settle in the UK? He had a bit of a fall out at Olympiakos, not sure why. But I think he would understand and buy into the club's history and ethos.
I love the way Napoli play too and Sarri seems to be a good tactician and coach. He seems a larger than life character, which is important I think. But how would he adapt to living and working in UK and it's culture?
Anyway, if it was up to me who was to replace Jose and who could really challenge City and Guardiola, they'd be the two I'd be looking at.
But I think it's Jose for another season. I'm hoping he addresses our right and left back positions with real quality, Ed 002 mentioned Max for left back, please! Also quality centre back and central midfielder.
This would totally change how we can set up and play. Hopefully anyway. I'm still scratching my head after Sunday, abysmal display but we should have had two penalties and been playing against ten men!
Thanks to all the Eds and posters for making this a great forum for debate and a bit of a laugh as well.
Have a good day.
