First time poster on the page, but have followed it for years as the most accurate and reliable around. Looking back old videos and one comes to mind, ronaldo clips v Portsmouth. Look at the players in the tunnel. Ronny, Rooney, Scholes, vidic, Ferdinand. Where are we as a team now, no leaders or stand out world class players in terms of current form. A few with potential. But one worry is the focus, in that tunnel before the game, all looking ahead, concentrating on the task ahead. No laughing, joking, cuddling the opposition. We used to have a team of professional stars. The anount of players now just filling jerseys is shocking. And we were the team to envy, now our targets and low. A Watford midfielder. Why not Casemiro or kroos. A defender target, go get the star players, a variance etc. Set the bar high where it used to be! A forward. we get Lukaku, currently one of our best players, but would rather a lewendowski or dybala, we have the cash, we need the status. We used to see a player and sign him, no media fanfare, not protracted negotiations. If your the best we will have you and pay you. Sorry for the rant, but was on a stag and took in the city v Everton game yestaerday. And we are slipping years behind them.

We used to see a player and sign him. Gascoigne, Shearer and Ronaldinho all turned us down.

Lukaku has smashed it this season but you'd rather have Dybala or Lewandowski.

No world class players in form? So you don't rate de Gea then.

And just because a player comes from a club like Watford doesn't mean that they're no good. Our best signings of the Ferguson era came from Leeds and Nottingham Forest. Players rarely leave an elite club for another elite club at their peak.

Now having got out the way what I disagreed with I do actually agree we lack leaders compared to previous teams. Lukaku looks like he is developing into one. Sanchez once fully settled could be another. Pogba if he grows up could be. Bailly also is a leader. But we do need more.

Podba is no leader my friend, take that thought away from your head, Lukaku? Could be, Bailly? Maybe. I think Mata is a good leader and good role model to the new younger dancing, social media addict generation. We do need a Roy Keane in that dressing room that's for sure.

Blimey Mort, that’s not exactly a warm welcome to a new poster is it?

Dave, see what you are saying but I think much of our success was built on buying a mixture of lesser known players or ones with huge potential. I’m always worried when we buy “superstars”, we’ve had a few failures when we have done it. As for leaders you are spot on, we are sadly lacking.

Oh please get over yourselves with the Roy Keane generation BS. That era is long gone. I don't get why people obsess over players posting dance videos and fancy hand shakes during matches. Its a freaking game. Its meant to be enjoyed and players like Lingard enjoy it. Pogba likes to have his hair done. So what? I can understand if he comes in with a different cut every matchday and plays like a pub team midfielder. Truth is even at his worst he's still better than most epl midfielders I watch every week.

The game has changed. City don't have Roy Keane and they are on course to break almost every other league record. What we need is to move with the times. Play attacking football, which can only happen with a modern manager. Not one clearly in decline and still relying on tactics that probably were effective 5 years ago, but not anymore.

PS Lukaku has been awesome andd I hope Pogba one day becomes captain of the team full time, rainbow hair or not.

Yeah, but Pogba has been rubbish for Man Utd so who cares what his hair looks like?

{Ed001's Note - would you rather Pogba went and got his hair cut or spent his time down the pub getting hammered like the Keane generation did? People forget Pogba does not drink alcohol, so he fills his time with haircuts and instatwitbook rather than knocking back 20 pints down the pub after training. I think, personally, the club should be getting more community work out of him, remind him of how crap life can be for the rest of the world that don't earn mega money kicking a bag of wind around. Then you might see a change in his attitude. As it is though, you can't really complain about the hair cuts as it is better for a professional athlete than getting bevvied. I would have far more worries about players who get tattoos during the season myself, as that is a health risk.}

Yeah I was a bit harsh.

To the other fella. Ok I agree with the ed hairdressers is better than the pub. But if he's got too much time on his hands how about staying behind at training for another hour. Or as ed said doing some community work. Look at evra popping into hospital the other day.

Silly dances is all well an good if they were u21 players having a laugh. They're not though they're grown men in the mid 20s. No ones saying don't have fun but it comes across as they don't take it serious enough.

The reason most of us talk about Keane or Robson is simple. Go watch Robson vs Barcelona or Keane vs Juventus and then look at our squad and see if we have a player like that with that strength of character to grab a game and carry us through. A player who leads by example.

City don't have one because they haven't needed one as the whole league has rolled over for them.
