Hypothetical question to get your guys opinion.

Would you rather have played nice football like spurs did tonight and get knocked out?

Or

Defend resolutely for a 0-0 and go through to the quarter finals like spurs could have tonight.

Spurs showed their naivety and European inexperience, tonight. A tough lesson, but one they'll have to suck up and learn from. We had a few hiccups in Europe before 99. If they're back in next season, and they keep hold of their best players, they should use tonight as a lesson to be learned.

Rather play defensively and go through everyday of the week!

Although as i said below it keeps happening to them terrible game management by poch and the players.

Its a good point that, we had long learning curve before we eventually won it.

No one will remember how you played but what you won. So i'd say grind out defensively and try to win the game.

Just look at Chelsea they won the Champions league with grinding out results and also had the luck on their side which every side needs in cup competitions.

I would like to see that team stick together to see if they can make that final push and actually win a trophy. They may need a bit of luck at the right time and to learn from their mistakes.
Ithink this squad have 1 more year to turn themselves into winners before the vultures start circling and picking off the best players and a big club will talk poch into fullfilling his potential at their club. If they win and improve they could be London's biggest club for the next 5 years.

I don't think anybody would choose a good performance over a result in a vital cup tie (even me) . Maybe a more realistic question would be, 'would you choose a 2 years of dull, uninspiring football and sneak a CL victory at the end of it - or play like the Utd of old and miss out on CL success on account of being unlucky playing good football in a one off game? ' In that case I'd choose the later every day of the week, I watch to enjoy it and not spend 2 years of my life watching pampered under performers jump around with a big cup for 10 mins - what about the other 80 games?

Spurs were a bit unfortunate tonight and over the two legs I think they were the better team - I bet their fans are proud of them, I certainly would be. Could have easily gone the other way and i don't think there is too much shame in pushing Juventus as close as they did.

They certainly made a much better fist of it than PSG did against Madrid.

We were absolutely dreadful in the CL final in 99, no surprise playing without our 2 best midfielders, but nobody remembers that when we look back at how amazing a victory it was.

Anybody who could answer this saying they would prefer 'nice football' is deluded, football is about winning things not matter how well you play.

You remembed we were dreadful.
Great for 90% of the season that year but we were second best in the final .
Which made the last 5 minutes even better.

Is it not a bit of a loaded question pretend they played different and then state the result achieved is a goalless draw and asking if that would be a better way to go . Simply changing the question to would u rather spurs were absolutely gung-ho and won 4_3 than what happened gives u the same answer, both made up scenarios to fit a view point.

I'm with slate on this you could just as easily say would you rather go through playing boring 1.0 playing crap or go through 10.0 playing great .
Would you rather win the epl playing pep poch or klipperty brand of football or win the title playing Jose.

I’d rather win playing nice football. The two together, why does is have to be one or the other? City win playing lovely football.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. i'd be delighted to win the league either way but i would prefer to win playing attractive football.
Tbh 978 passes from city last night great to watch but on that occasion they lost. Watching Barcelona towards the end of peps reign i thought was boring but there was obvious quality in their play the moment city are far from boring they are playing with more pace than Barcelona did.
United never played like city are playing now but we all enjoyed most of the last 30 years.

i don't think it was the players inexperience that got to them rather it was the naeivity of poechettino not settling to solidify his defence, allegri took advantage of this, made some changes and stretched them out which allowed inter to score those two goals, poechettino should have told his players to tone down the pressure and maintain a sense of solidity imo.
