The top five today are as I would expect for the end of the season, but in what order will it be?

I see the usual negativity posted about our performance, yet it is September, the weather warm, every teams players fresh. Teams can start strong and fade, teams can bang goals in, look great and fade. Lower teams often surprise and win early games at this time. Title winners tend to work together and get through difficult games. I believe defending is also an art, at times in this league you need to work hard and keep the opposition out. SAF teams were built on solid defences.

Timing is the key, playing well in September doesn't win the league but the team that can put a run together post Christmas have the best chance, take points now, stay in the mix and if you play well post the festive period you have a chance. Time the run, you can't play 38 games at the same level.

Despite my prediction in AJH's competition, I still think we are a high quality wide forward short and a full back. I feel we will be second or third but top three would be a good result and top would be a phenomenal achievement by Jose. Jose seems to overate Fellaini in my opinion, I would rate Herrera higher, but the manager gets results, won two major cups in his first season, looks to have us in the mix this season so hold the negativity about how we play at times and trust what is happening at the club. Games like yesterday will be found on many of our league winning DVD's.

I think we have a great chance of winning the league .
Not really scared of any other team out there they all have faults, we have a strong squad no reason why we can't win it.

Agreed jred. Even though not the best game yesterday, I loved seeing our resilience yesterday and every player working for one another. That's going to amount to a lot of points on the days where we are not at our best.

A champions performance yesterday imo it's not all about winning 4-0 every week to come through that yesterday (A very poor 2nd half imo) with 3 points are the games we couldn't win for love nor money last season.

We will win the league this season we look right powerful, resilient.

I had the top 4 as they currently are but you are right that a lot can change, remember how well Liverpool and City started last year. I thInk we can win it but City look a very very strong squad and Chelsea won't be mugs. I think that with us that will be the top 3 but in what order is anybody's guess.

Agree that we should finish top 3 at least. However, Chelsea are looking very good again and Cuty are scoring for fun (though teams will get through their weak defence)

I think it'll either be us or Chelsea as champions.

do not despair lads the title is coming home to Old Trafford, the january window will see to that, and also with Ibra returning to fitness in the second half of the season.

Love the optimism but please let's wait and see til after December. Let's be honest City's movement and speed of attack is the best at the moment by quite some distance and have Aguero and De Brunei who world class players. Chelsea as a unit are very well drilled, have title winning experience and in Hazard have a world class player who can win matches on his own. Liverpool are great at swarming forward but defensively are definitely not good enough. Tottenham are a youngish hungry team who are growing in maturity all the time and have a lethal striker in Kane. We have a good mixture of young and old players and in Pogba Rashford Miki Lukaku Bailly and De Gea we have a really strong spine of a team. We are probably a bit weak on the wings. We also have the manager who is probably the best at getting the most out of his squad. That said and judged purely on what we have seen now I think City and Chelsea are probably ahead of us.

Pretty fair summing up hendon I agree with almost all of that apart from down the left I think we are incredibly strong, our left side attacker be it rashford or martial have scored in a incredibly high percentage of games, we have scored goals attacking from the right but very few from the right sided attacker .

RedMan. Good post but I for one will not be wanting to settle for 3rd as that will be failure in my opiniin. We had the chance to strengthen left back and wing positions and didn't do it.
I was disappointed and totally unimpressed by our performance in the 2nd half against Southampton. We retreated and just kept booting the ball up top with stupid clearances. United should be better than that. If we struggle against Southampton and Stoke, then what chance have we got when we play City, Chelsea or Spurs?
I see an improvement in attack but I don't see maturity in the way we keep the ball and control matches.
Also, I'm not of the opinion that City's defence is weak. I think they concentrate more on attack while our priorities are more on defence. I think city will win the league as they'll win more matches and have better players in attack. I would also like to see us contain teams by keeping the ball better instead of the shambles we saw in the 2nd half on Saturday.
