Ed001 if you are around what did you make of my young mate Robertson's debut yesterday for Liverpool?

I know we had a debate a while back when I said I wanted him to sign for United and you thought he was poor.

Has that performance changed your mind at all? I still reckon he will be a hell of a player.

{Ed001's Note - no because he never had to do any defending and it is his defending that worries me. He panics under pressure, he did it a couple of times yesterday on the ball. I am hoping he will improve that aspect as he grows in confidence and experience, but yesterday was never a test for him. Palace played hoofball football and never looked to get at Liverpool down the flanks, just hump it in Benteke's direction.}

Ed granted CP aren't the greatest team but you have to give him credit for the way he handled himself on his debut. He will get better defensively but the way he flies up and down that left wing is fantastic and I thought he was man of the match yesterday.

In this market it is a steal for what you guys paid for him.

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is fantastic, if you watch it again he is attacking the space Mane is looking to use and blocking it up after Liverpool moved him to the left. He needs to learn to hold his runs when there is a winger in front of him. He had a good game but was nothing special. He gave the ball away a fair few times, trying odd balls that just weren't on. He was certainly not MOM, Mane was far better than anyone else on that pitch and Gomez had as good a game as Robertson, just didn't get forward as much, which was not a bad thing as he had a winger in front of him. You don't want a fullback in the way of a winger. You want a fullback supporting a winger, not being the winger.}

{Ed001's Note - I expect the best mate, Robertson is not that. He is, however, a huge improvement on Milner or Moreno there and that is a start. He just needs to keep improving.}
