Nice to have been entertained for a change; but that was three points dropped.

I can't see us getting top four this season. We can't attack and defend at the same time. That of course can be improved if we make the necessary signings in this window, but that looks unlikely at the moment.

It almost feels like LVG has been told he will be allowed to see the season out regardless of where we finish. That might explain why we have been more cavalier.
Even if that isn't the case, I personally think sitting in sixth place in January is unacceptable, regardless of the side playing a more entertaining brand of football.

Not sure what will happen on Sunday. Liverpool have looked pretty bland of late. Klopp seems to be employing a very tight ridged system that makes them hard to break down. If we do likewise, it could be a pretty boring game. Or we could just go for them and see's what happens.

Would we have got 4 points for a win?

If we attack like that until the end of the season we'll be fine imo. Three big chances missed at crucial stages of the game and anyone of them taken and we'd be two points better off and feeling positive about the next run of games.

The posters that called out our defence as being strong because of the protection afforded by our defensive mindset were proved spot on tonight.

Newcastle deserve credit but we were sloppy at the back.

Smalling showed again tonight that he is a not a leader, or a composed presence in the back. And yes, good to see us attack, but I am not sure we will see defenses as weak as that too often. I am afraid we will see more of the team that sit deeper in and wait to counter.

I feel like someone should speak in defence of Smalling. He's been fantastic all season, and I just think he had a bad game. let's not be too critical, all defenders have them - including Rio, Vidic etc (maybe not Irwin, but he was an anomaly) . Mitrovic is a brute to defend against too, and the rest of the defence is pretty weak physically.

Fellaini was poor. Rooney was poor too. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat from two goals and an assist. His last goal was well taken, but I have no idea why our centre forward was stood on the edge of the box in that situation - he never just gets in the box and causes problems. He also had two one on one situations and just got caught up because he's so slow i. e. the assist should never have happened because it should have been finished before the 33 year old CB, who has never been known for his pace, and singled out as a problem if a one on one situation occurs, caught him up. I honestly think it must be a training problem, because he looks incapable of sprinting.

I thought Herrera was good.

Whilst it's exciting that goals were happening, to think we are going to get that many chances against anyone but that Newcastle team is naive. They were awful, and defended terribly.

I clearly don't feel like it's the silver lining that everyone else does. If we all didn't still have 'I'd love it, love it if we beat them' in our minds, and that result was against Sunderland or Norwich, we'd all be saying we failed miserably. Newcastle are relegation fodder, and we were lucky to draw with them.

Did you actually watch the game? I didn't even realise Herrera was on the pitch in the second half, forget having a good game. The game totally passed him by. The Midfield was non existent in the second half. Rooney had been moved to the number 10 once AH was taken off. Martial was playing centre forward when Rooney took the second goal. You must have dozed off while watching the boring united game.

Some people will Never EVER be content.

I did watch the game. I was disappointed that Herrera got substituted because he looked like the only member of midfield who might have created something.

I understand that Rooney's position changed, I actually thought he played much better when not playing directly up front on his own. I still stand by my opinion that he should have been in the box though, even as a number 10.

In fact, I'd go one further. with the exception of a corner or a penalty, it would be nice to see ANY of our players run into the box at any point. Rooney in my mind just has more responsibility to do it because his pay is supposed to reflect him being our best player, he's our captain so should help drive the team forward and he is normally at the front of our attack (or near it) .

I am not at all content with a draw against one of the worst teams in the PL, and I fail to see why you are.
