Ornstein reporting that we had an 80m euro offer rejected by ajax yesterday for Antony. Unsure if we go again.

Mad isn't it that we've had all summer and now all of a sudden we are throwing money everywhere. Owners under pressure we think?

This isn't a tactic surely as we are going to pay way more for anyone we approach now.

If ten Hag wants him, surely just offer our soon to be 5th (? ) choice CM van der Beek in exchange, too?

€50m plus vdB?

Looks like casameiro is going to get done and we will pay over the odds for Anthony, like major money being spent. also given the number of right backs that we are supposedly looking at assume something there will be happening too. Cherry on the cake would be a striker and and cm

aws, ronaldo leaving i reckon. wonder who else goes.

Reckon VdB fancies halving his salary to do that?

And Casemiro in Manchester tomorrow for a medical. Seven days ago we were signing Rabiot and a racist,

If it’s true that we’re willing to pay 70m for Casemiro and 80m for Anthony, I’d much rather see us offer 150m for either Rice or Bellingham. Those two are players we could build a team around and would be at the club for a decade. Casemiro, on the other hand, will give us three good years at best and Anthony will be dropped once Ten Hag gets sacked later on this season.

Rice 150 is too rich. We don’t need to do crazy stuff like this. It takes 11 players to win. We need to scout and buy young players before they become household names. Investing far lesser sums into young talent and improving what's coming into the academy and coming out. Our academy has not produced a real world class player for years.

Bellingham is exceptional and you are probably not far off what he may go for. I see him going next summer and landing in spain or city if they want him. Debruyne is getting older and a workhorse and they can’t be playing him like this week in week out for too long, especially given his work rate on the pitch.

NC. Spending 150m on Rice is no less insane than dropping 70 on Casemiro or 80 on Anthony….

red

No one in football spends that kind of money on a defensive midfielder. Strikers, exceptional wing players, exceptional midfielder but more a playmaker who also score goals yes it happens.

Like every other sport there is cap in terms what you pay depending on the position and productivity.

Look at kante and the guy from Brighton or many other examples of defensive mids. you can get them significantly cheap early and even when they become household names there is a ceiling in terms of what the top teams are willing to pay. The skill set to play as a dm very different.

The sexy players, the goalscorers and the flair players go for the most.

Players like Rice are actually worth more to the team in terms of what they bring.

Rice is exceptional, he makes Teams tick, he improves each year and he is a leader. He's also got that bit of something about him, he's a fighter and he's overcome adversity when getting dropped as a youth by Chelsea and fought his way back to be the guy who makes England work. He's the next England Captain in my opinion and would be the player I would build around in an ideal world where I own United!

Bellingham too is a quality player but little chance of either even contemplating us as an option with this current mess.

I dunno. Think I’d beg to differ. Can see both of the players I mentioned moving for north of £100m next season. Sadly, I expect Bellingham will end up at Liverpool and Rice with Chelski.
