Eds is there any substance to the strootman rumours? I remember he looked pretty decent a few year back and we had interest in him, but has also struggled with injuries. Has anybody seen him play over the last few seasons? And if so what are your thoughts on us signing him?

{Ed004's Note - i highly doubt there is anything in the links}

Matic, strootman and rakitic midfield three. That would be a pretty good setup if it was 2014.

I would instantly take Rakitic for 3 years. Huge upgrade on Herrera.
He still offers lots of energy and is rarely injured.
He will be an experienced head to guide the young players around him.

Totally agree Truereddevil, not sure what people are expecting but we definitely need experienced players mixed with the youngsters if that’s the plan. People will literally moan about anything. “He’s not the exact player I wanted so I’m going to slag him off” seems to be a general theme every summer.

If Pogba were to leave I would have no problem with Racatic forming a new midfield with some younger players. If Pogba stays then build around him.
Racatic is a quality player.

We don't play the way Barcelona play so rakatic will be in the same situation and when we got bs.

We don't keep and move the ball good enough for players like him to flourish.

If he was in citys team it would make sense but unless we are going to some how learn how to pass a ball and keep possession it makes 0 sense to get him

Strootman was a good player pre breaking his leg it's a shame really because we would have got him back in 04 I think it was.

Rakitic looked out his depth against Liverpool. I think he'd struggle with the pace of the game in England. I'd also be against signing him given his personal views.

Rakitic is a great player, my concern isn't his age, although I would ideally steer clear of players around 30 who have never played in the EPL. However, my main concern is would he fit how the Ole want's the team to play? He works very well in a possession based set up and if LvG was still our manager he might be an ideal signing.

If Ole wants to play a more pressing/ counter attacking set up then I'm not sure that plays into Rakitic's strengths. He isn't the guy to do much closing down or pressing and he tends to be better at recycling the ball rather than playing that quick pass to break the lines (although it hard to judge as Barcelona don't play that way) .

Hang on, are we talking about Rakitic, Racatic or Rakatic?

Ports, he's the new Sneijder/ Schneider etc.

Danny, I know. Its a couple of years ago an he may have changed but I doubt it. Obviously people are entitled to their opinion. But those views aren't acceptable to me. Not for someone who would be representing a club with a diverse fanbase in a diverse country.

He says it was taken out of context, but it's hard to see what else he could have meant.
