Hi Ed,

Would be interested to know if we are still in the running for Dybala? Seems the perfect forward for us that can play as that slightly withdrawn striker behind Rashford and Martial.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Manchester United.}

Dybala is vastly overrated imo.

I can see the allure of signing a dybala or griezmann type player but it would require a change of system for that type of player to work.

We would essentially have to go back to 4-4-2 and play them as a second striker. But in this 4-3-3 formation they would just be shoehorned out of position on the right wing and we all know that is just not sustainable after years of seeing juan mata played out there with little relative success.

Would much prefer a lower profile signing like zaha or bergwijn who actually can play in the right wing position.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath for Steven Bergwijn joining.}

Im not seeing the dybala attraction.
He is obviously a good player but not one that is best suited to the epl imo.
Not sure he is dynamic enough for the epl.

{Ed001's Note - I hate to do this, but I agree with you ken.}

Agree Ken.
We need to be targeting a pacy right sided attacker in the mold of Sancho or Nicholas Pepe for our fast counter attacking style.
I've not seen Bergwijn play tbh.

We don't need big name signings that Woodward craves, we need players that will fit in and improve the team.

Controversially I don't see the reasoning linking with Hudson odoi, sancho etc etc. vast sums would be needed and let's be straight- they haven't played a lot of football at the top levels, ie CL or indeed premier league proven. Young talent does need to be nurtured but 80m?

But guys Phil "the step over king" Neville said Dybala would become the best player in the world. Surely we must sign this guy.

Almost everyone we get linked to is going to be costly. Its getting to the point that its going to be spend your transfer budget on 1-2 players and fill any gaps through your academy. The markets unsustainable.

And I agree with Ken. Dybala doesn't do it for me. Doesn't even stand out in the dominant team in that league.

Touchè. Hope your well. I meant to ask you before what's your opinion on doherty the wolves rb. He has been playing rwb but i think he is just as effective in a 4. I really like him.

{Ed001's Note - I like him too, though I have never seen him play as a right back, so can't judge him on that. He does seem good defensively at wing back, rather than just an attacking force who puts a body in the way when forced back. He has probably been their best player this season.}
