Don't worry we'll win the league.

The board aren’t convinced? Maybe they should have backed the manager? We all know where the problems in our squad are whether we have mourinho or another manager those problems will still exsist. Some of the players in our squad should have gone a few seasons ago yet they remain. I could name 5/ 6 positions we need players for.

I take all your points AJH and don't know where to start.

I feel and will continue to feel that while we have the leeches who own and run the club we won't ever be the top dogs in football again on the pitch, off it where they want us to be we will be top dogs.

I do think on the face of it the blame is on the manager. But for me it goes deeper, the guy that hires the manager needs to take the blame. that's why my original point still stands to me, that while the Americans and Woodward are here we won't be successful.

Every player is carefully picked, but not for the reason he should be i.e playing football. He is picked for off field reasons with on field reasons taking a back seat.
Players that can or should be able to do a job, but can also make them money.

I always will follow Utd but now while the cancer is here its hard to love the club as much.

Or he could just properly manage the team that he has, to beat the likes of Brighton.

Fzz
What was the off field reasons for buying matic bailly lindelof lukaku Miki Mata schniderlin, I could go on .
Im really not sure how much input the Americans owners have on football issues but we have spent a huge amount of money and i struggle to belive that the glazers picked the players we bought .
They may of agreed the budget tho and are fans really upset about the 700 million we have spent since fergy.

Madrid probably the most successful team about are masters of buying players that have a commercial value .
But that's football these days .

I think poch has done a great job at spurs, klipperty at the scouse but maybe its all down to there CEO"s and owners.
Maybe Jose winning the treble at inter and Porto was down to the owners?

I think, going by ed002. United are working hard on appointing a DOF, trying to correct the wrongs made after the appointments of moyes and LVG.

It is going to take a bit more time. There is a lot more wrong than what happened on the pitch.

We do however need to just remain calm and continue to support the club. The fans were to blame for the last plan going wrong, don't make it a second time. Jose might not be right for this club but let the club do what they have to do to make the right choice in the future.

If the fans continue, Jose will go, someone else will be appointed and plans will go out the window again.

Ed said Jose isn't committed and isn't happy at the club .
Sharp said last week he had heard a whisper Jose is picking the team but given little guidance or instruction anymore .

Can you see any sign of that with our performance on the pitch?

Hi all,
Thanks to the Eds as always.
This is getting all too familiar. Bad result = complete melt down amongst fans. 6 players made their 1st starts of the season today and for the majority of the first half we played some exciting, purposeful football and Lu Lu Lukaku should have put us ahead. We looked leggy in the second half and Spurs’s finishing was top draw - even if defensively we were put of position. Fair play to Spurs for nailing their first result away to us for years, shame the game wasn’t later in the season from our match fitness perspective but I thought tactically we were right last night. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the problem isn’t Jose, it’s EW.

the board have spent a fortune - whether you think the players purchased for it are worth it is neither here nor there. the managers chose the targets and they were purchased. they have backed the manager.

i don't agree that we need a CB (unless its to replace the always injured Jones) Bailly could be a beast for us and Lindeloff has had a rocky start but look at him for Sweden he was great. its down to confidence, you could tell last night his is at rock bottom. if he had a little love and encouragement from the manager he would be a much better player.
and if Jose thinks we need a CB so badly that he has to play hererra at CB then he shouldn't have let TFM and Tuanzebe leave on loan in the last days of the window.

See, whilst I really respect Ed 02's views and knowledge of the gane which far outweighs mine, and you support for the team Angel - how can honest working class Utd fans who sacrifice so much to go to games and pile their money into the club be told for the 4th year in a row that they've just to wait another year again?

Plans don't need to be scrapped, they may need to be brought forward or, if not possible, literally just stick an interim in place. Jose is toxifying the entire club and we are spiralling out of control. People forget that us Utd fans are ordinary people giving up large %s of our wages to support the club. If they made tickets and strips cheaper then maybe we would have patience but paying top price for EVERYTHING whilst not being treated to any level of football at all is unacceptable.

{Ed002's Note - The problem was the club kowtowed to the fans previously when firm plans were in place the were expected by now (actually between 2017 and 2022) to be reaping rewards - and that was when the damage was done. It was not the first time the club had tried to put long-term plans in place. Guardiola was sounded out about the Manchester managerial job in December 2012 whilst he was in the United States and taking a year out after leaving Barcelona.

Mr Mourinho should not have been offered the job when he was and should not have accepted. Critically he did not see MU as a progressive club that would adapt to what he thought they needed, they persuaded him otherwise but in the end his original viewpoint has been found to be correct.

In terms of the role of director of football, the guy the club (and JM) really wanted went elsewhere and is employed elsewhere right now - but is back in talks with another side. A second guy also had the consensus of club and manager behind his recruitment, but he also decided on moving elsewhere.

What you have now is the result of the original decision to give in to the fans.}

Thank you Ed for this information. Personally, I think had the club made their intentions a bit clearer to the fans, we would have been more understanding. Now we are reaping what we sowed. Seems all parties are to blame here.

{Ed002's Note - The club know it is a waste of time and brings nothing but grief to try and share such information with the fans. And as soon as the fans turn then all communication closes down, as it did at MU; Everton is another example.}

Cheers Ed002 that is another really good summary. I find it much easier to stomach that as I was just defending the every day working-class fans who, having had a good think about it, aren't the ones paying for planes or banners.

It really is difficult to see where this all ends but I thank you for giving us 10x more clarity than the club do.

{Ed002's Note - It will end with players moving, a new manager at some point and a Director of Football. The slight issue with the DoF is that the first two targets were picks of Mr Mourinho and although one is not going anywhere, the other could well be open to a discussion - he has already had such a discussion with another EPL side. But if JM were then to be leaving it would then potentially make matters worse for the club. And all of this is down to those that caused the plkans to be scrapped - let's hope they are proud of the results.}

28 Aug 2018 12:54:15
I do find it strange that the club are giving Jose the power to identify DoF targets when he is so obviously disintrested in the club and the city.

As for fans though, the Board should have had the strength to carry on originally. I have been a vocal critic of Mourinho since day 1 and was bitterly disappointed when LVG was bagged to be replaced with JM, it felt (and you confirmed) like an ill-judged knee jerk.

The farce rolls on.

{Ed002's Note - This was a while ago and the club cannot bring in a DoF who can't work with a particular manager - that would be completely dumb.}
