LVG wanted by Dutch FA According to some reports.
Could we be lucky enough for them to want him badly enough to pay a release fee? (probably vain hope that he has a buy out clause)

We ought to get some money back. Shame that sale of goods act doesn't apply. Not fit for purpose, not as described etc.

Not really bashing him, I think he has had a pretty torrid time for someone coasting towards retirement, but fans have had it rough as well. Some recompense would be nice. Won't be holding my breath.

Chiswick "you're" crazy if you think United would settle for someone who isn't even the best manager in North London, let alone all of London.

Like I said, this is what I've heard and I am sceptical myself. I suspect Chelsea fans would be just as annoyed to see Jose in the Spurs dugout as they would the United dugout so it's win win really.

He's keeping the family home in London because the kids are settled there, has zero bearing on where his next job will be.

Exactly WRD. Benitez's wife and kids have stayed in England since he took on work abroad as they were settled. One of the reasons he took the Newcastle job was so he would be closer to his family.

Maze I too like Coleman and kante Ritchie is a fine player but not hugely better than lingard. I know you like Williams but I don't at all. He is very slow and although he is a good organiser and leader I feel we need a lot better than Williams. I also feel we need another striker although as you say maybe Jose cam get another season or 2 it if rooney but there would need to be a huge improvement which is not easy at 30 plus. Personally I think the new manager should sell rooney and Carrick and start with none of fergie multiple title winners and no cl winners in order to begin a new era.
But I agree that if anyone can get a lady hurrah from rooney Jose is the man. He did try to sign him a couple of seasons back.

Maze "all premier league proven" just like when Liverpool signed Mignolet, Lovren, Benteke, Allen etc?

So Ozzy when signed Rio, Rooney, Tevez, Van der Saar etc we got poor players? They must have been poor if Mignolet, Lovren, Benteke and Allen didn't cut it at Liverpool right?

Ken I agree with you that if there is one man to get the best out of Rooney for the next few years that man will be Jose. Let's be honest Rooney will not be going anywhere in the near future so if the gaffer can get him back to playing top football it will be a dream for the club. Carrick is 50/ 50 to stay and I can see merits of both decisions to be honest.

I have advocated the signing of Coleman for a long time and I feel Kante is exactly what we miss in the middle. I disagree on Ritchie he is head and shoulders above Lingard and even Depay at the moment and that is no disrespect to Lingard and the Dutchman. We also disagree on Williams as even though he is no Usain Bolt I wouldn't brand him slow. He is solid, physical and gives 100 percent and would be a step up on what we currently have.

Rio an Rooney were outstanding youth products. Van der saar was a proven top class keeper. Williams is around 30 been playing in the league for a few years now yet no clubs gone for him? Despite ourselves, Liverpool, arsenal all in the market for a centre half.

People on here slate lingard but is Ritchie any better? Why spend 15 or so million on an average player who would be no more than a squad player when we have one from our own academy at a fraction of the cost.

MDH, if your reference is aimed at poch? Then your aim is well off and I would suggest a trip to specsavers.

Rio played in the champions league and at a World Cup before we bought him, so did Van Der Saar. Rooney was the best talent around at his age while Tevez was World Class and no one had any idea how he ended up at West Ham.

You're naming average players just like the average players Liverpool signed that got them nowhere.

Ozzy I only used those players as examples as players who we have picked up from the PL who have been a success. The term 'etc' means there are many more. Just to keep you happy I will chuck another some more names at you for your own sanity - Carrick, Saha, Andy Cole, Keane ETC.

By your logic it is reasonable to assume that as Lovren, Allen, Benteke and Mignolet haven't been great for Liverpool that Carrick, Saha, Andy Cole and Roy Keane were poor signings for Man Utd.

Keane was the best midfielder in the league. Cole had one of the best scoring records in the league. Carrick divides fans. I think he's been great but some on here don't rate. Saha was good but too injury prone.
